A visit to Centro Felicidad Chapinero [ENG-SP]
Hello Hivers and Archi Lovers!
A few days ago, I went up to the terrace of the building of the newly opened Centro Felicidad Chapinero in Bogotá. It was inaugurated a few months ago, exactly in October 2024. The building is located in one of the main avenues of the city, Carrera 11 with 82nd street in the Chapinero sector. It is a project that, according to its website, seeks to offer the people of Bogotá a place where art, culture, sports, and recreation converge, promoting the integral well-being of the community.
The building always caught my attention when I saw it when I passed by that intersection. But I had never entered it until now. One afternoon this week when I was in the area, I went up to the top floor. I was curious about the views of the city.
This image of the building is not from the day I visited, but from one of our weekend walks. The afternoon I visited it, I was alone. The husband was working, and as a precaution, I didn't want to take my phone out on the street. In Bogotá, you have to be attentive to security, and as they say here, it is better not to give Papaya, so not display phones on the street is better, especially if you go alone.
To go up to the building, I could take the elevator or the stairs. I decided to take the stairs, and that way, I could explore the building and get some exercise.
On the second floor, at street level, there is a small amphitheater for concerts, and soon there will be a café and a restaurant.
On the second floor, there is a basketball court. There was a game going on when I went, and people were watching through the glass surrounding the court.
Concrete and glass are the predominant materials in the construction of the building.
There is also a lot of information on each floor about the plants that decorate the spaces. Apparently, they are native plants from Colombia, and there is information about them throughout the building.
Then comes a floor with a gymnasium, with a central space for small exhibitions.
One floor above is a small library. You could see people in it, mostly groups of children.
Further up, we found a semi-Olympic-size swimming pool. And along the outer corridors, there were several large paintings, I suppose made in one of the many workshops they program among the activities they offer to the community.
And finally, I reached the top floor. As soon as I climbed the last flight of stairs, I found this little corner. I could spend the afternoon sitting at that table, sipping coffee, lost in thought.
My attempt to take a panoramic view from the corner.
The terrace located on the roof of the building has a garden in the center.
And a couple of spaces on the sides for exhibitions.
I went into one of them and there was a small exhibition under the title Bogotá Semilla, with images of Bogotá, and scenes of the city in the 1990s. A convulsive and violent period that the city lived through under the war declared against drug trafficking in that decade, but which also brought social and cultural transformations to the city.
But undoubtedly what I found coolest about this rooftop is the possibility to sit and contemplate the view. And although the building is not too high, the view from there is worth admiring on a rainless afternoon like the ones the city is giving us this January.
I would have loved to stay there longer enjoying the sunset but I still had a couple of things to do and I didn't want it to get dark too far from the apartment.
So I went down the stairs as well. And as I walked down I enjoyed the view of the city.
I liked the building. It seemed to me one of those spaces that make the city nicer. By the way, the architect who designed it is called Manuel Alejandro Rogelis Terán. And you can read more information about the site, in this link (the information is in Spanish).
Before I say goodbye, I leave you with this photo of another of our walks in the area one night in early January.
The illuminated building looks very striking. And it must also be interesting to go up at night to contemplate the view. Maybe I will encourage my husband to go visit it one these nigths.
Thank you for reading.

Una visita al Centro Felicidad Chapinero
Hola Hivers y Archi Lovers!!

I was drawn to the building already but that corner with the coffee table and chairs I would gladly spend days on end in. Really majestic. Do they let people just stay there?
Yes the place is public! And people can get to the top floor for free and stay there all the time they want while the building is open.
Happy weekend, Tessa 😊
I was totally taken aback by the variety of uses inside! I do love the stairs on the outside Super Eli, and you got exercise with a view!
Thank you for being careful about your phone on the streets, need to be careful wherever you are nowadays.
I could while away a few hours on the roof with a coffee and a book for sure!
It's true!!! It's a great place to spend a few hours reading a book. I'll buy that idea and this afternoon if the weather is nice, I'll grab a coffee and a book and I'll spend a couple of hours reading while contemplating the sunset.
Happy Friday, Super Ed!
Happy new month, was the weather nice Super Eli , did you read that book on Friday Super Eli!
Hehe!! I didn't ;)
Last Friday it was windy and cold so I had my coffee without the book in a coffee shop, jeje.
Oh naughty Super Eli, I am teasing but yeah you don't want to end up with a cold or something!
What a nice place, without a doubt the best thing about it is the terrace with the view. I also loved the little corner. A modern building with a marked function. I liked it
I also liked it a lot. The building is modern and striking and without a doubt a great space for the community that lives in that area.
I thought this building was in Asia, because there are so many buildings in Asia that have the same architecture and similar design. Very interesting. The view presented is truly artistic in addition to the function of the building which is mostly used as a sports facility. I like the appearance of the building when the lights are turned on.
I didn't know that in Asia there were many buildings with that architecture, how interesting.
Yes, the building at night looks very cool and stands out a lot.
Thank you for stopping by :)
It is surely the place to be. Spending a day there isn’t enough.
Hi, there! Long time no hear from you. I hope you are well.
Doing great.
Well maintained nice sports center in town, it must be busy before or after work hours when people arrive to exercise, not that the steps to the top were exercise in itself.
Brilliant place above the city to sit and enjoy the city spaces around.

When people respect what is on offer it should be loved and cared for. Very unique building design, so many wonderful sporting events where people can meet.
It's really nice to sit at that table and enjoy the view. Especially sunset and with your husband☺️.
It sounds like a nice plan to go with my hubby, right? I'm going to convince him to go during the weekend;)
Happy Weekend!
Happy weekend too @coquicoin 😁
The mall has a beautiful exterior and interior design, the view of the city is spectacular, I like the corridors, the swimming pool and the view of the mountain. 😊
Greetings!
Thank you for stopping by!
Wow, what a spectacular landmark @coquicoin! If not for the protruding flights of stairs on the building's exterior, it would have looked like any other ordinary box-type edifice where staircases are integrated inside. Those concrete steps, landings, and balustrades are artistic - making all the difference. ☺️
Thanks for Elevating Architecture and Design with Hive!
It's true, those exterior stairs give it a style that stands out and it's amazing to go up them seeing the city in movement.
Thank you! ☺️
Impressive tower @coquicoin! I've noticed that this skyscraper has indeed implemented passive cooling and lighting techniques. The gaps, openings, and recesses on the various floor levels allow the free-flowing passage of natural light and air ventilation, contributing to the best spatial experiences of its occupants. ☺️
