September First to Me, "Ber" Months, Silver Name and HPUD

(Edited)

Hello friends and Hivians. I hope all is well and Happy Hive Power Up Day. For my Filipino friends and others the "Ber" months are now amongst us nowπŸŽ„ Today has a little bit more to it for me than just celebrating #HPUD and thinking of the biggiest holiday season in December. it's a day I forever have sketched in my mind due to an event that happened so many years ago.

Above is a picture of my father as a young man outside the family cafe his parents owned. This was long before I was born or even thought about. It's one of my favorite pictures of him and is displayed in a picture frame in my home.

Today marks the day that my father passed away. It was a friday evening some time ago in 1989. At the time I was in high school (age 15) under the lights dressed up in football gear warming up for a season opener football game. My best friend's father and the head football coach were the ones that gave me the bad news. I went from one set of emotions to another in the drop of a hat. The first thought in my mind was getting home and hugging my mom. I held back the breaking down emotions on the drive home but I could no longer once I fell into my mother's arms.

So on this day I always start this day looking up to the heavens and saying, "Hi Dad" and letting him know he has not been forgotten and is missed every day. Today seems different than others though as I will turn 51 later this year, same age my father was when he passed. It feels like it's a bigger reminder this year as I flip the order of numbers of 15 in 1989 to 51 later in 2024.

Anyways that's the start of my September 1st every year since that sad day. Sometimes I shed tears but when I'm done reflecting I just smile knowing that he is doing well with the company he's with from above. Today is a tear jerker one (I'm sorry) as I'm reflecting a bit more putting it down into words.

Well it's September 1st and it marks the beginning of the "Ber" months something very special in the country of the Philippines. The last four months of the year all end in ber (September, October, November & December). There is no other other country that celebrates Christmas longer than Filipinos. September is the start of the Christmas celebrations there. So go get those decorations, put them on the tree and go out caroling. You think about it why not start the holidays sooner and make it last longer.

Well what is my contribution to kick off Christmas super early? I share this Christmas tree photo with you at one of my relatives from a Christmas from the past. I can't bring myself to get a tree or hang decorations quite yet because my American cultures & customs have a strong hold on me πŸ˜‚ if I do decide to decorate a tree for Christmas it will be after the Thanksgiving holiday (4th Thursday of November) here.

I will add one more thing though to be a little festive, "Merry Christmas." Yes I say this with great joy, a smile and a good chuckle. I wish I could have found a Santa hat that is somewhere around here. I was planning to play Santa and give him a bit of a cool factor at my expense. Oh well, I will do it but I might need a reminder or else I might forget to do it, ho ho ho!

One last thing, sill acting In the Christmas spirit, I have decided to delegate to both the Hive Philippines and the Silver Bloggers Community. Exactly 150 hive each to both of them. I had already delegated to Hive Philippines previously.

Alright I need to speak a bit on the Silver Bloggers Community. I've been a member for a few months now and recently have received my Silver name. I decided on the name "Cool Silver" to pay homeage to my similar Hive username. I like to think I'm cool 😎 but that is all subjective to what everyone else thinks πŸ˜‚ I'm over 40 which is a requirement to be part of this community. I may be older with a mixture of silver on top of my noggin but that doesn't mean I have to be dull or boring so I believe "Cool Silver" is very fitting.

Oh it feels good to finally reach 5000 HP. At the beginning of the year I set a goal to reach 5500 HP and I'm way ahead of that goal as I should cross that sometime this month. Now before years end I should be well over 6000 HP which I'm pretty stoked about. Ok I'll go ahead and set a new goal and shoot for 6500 HP by January 1st.

Well it's another first of the month and I made another Hive Power Up Month. This is my fourth consecutive month and my nineth overall. There were a few days I almost forgot and I think this happens to a lot of us that go for this achievement. Just glad to be standing here yet again knowing I powered up at least 1 hive every day 😁

Before I show you my power up today I show you two new users I decided to power up. It's something I typically do every month to let them know this community can be very special. Not only that but maybe encourage them to keep Hiving. We can never be too low on Hive users.

Welcome to Hive @melll & @renacris. I hope you both enjoy your experiences here and become family amongst us all here in this great community. Cheers hope to see more from the both of you 😁

Here's me powering up myself. Not small but not super large, 200 hive still feels good though. It's what I have left over from the month after leaving an amount for the next HPUM. Well I'm still growing here to soon meet another HP goal. We all grow we all win! Happy HPUD again everyone.

Take care, stay safe, and let's enjoy the new month ahead. Until next time!

Wow so many things.
First, how good looking your father was!!! And it's really touching you remember him always like this, it's nice really (well my father is alive, but not a relationship.... it's complicated, so that feeling must be really comforting despite the nostalgic...).πŸ€—πŸ’–
Anyway, I'm happy because you are very committed here on Hive, helping others as you always do, and now in the-BER months! I remember when I read you on Read.cash about these months jaja
Our birthdays are coming (yeah mine too) and Christmas later, but still time to many things to live and to do here on Hive as well, I see you got also the PUM badge, congrats!!!πŸ€©πŸ™Œ

Happy HPUD and happy day and happy BER months!!!

You'd think as we approach middle age and become parents or maybe grandparents ourselves, we'd feel old, but when we think of our parents especially if they're no longer with us, we become the little child again

Well said and there is a lot of truth in what you say. It's the memories and experiences I would guess that do this to us. In my case I was much a child throughout my time with my father.

Loss of a parent takes us by surprise no matter, remembering your father before you were even a twinkle in the eye a nice photograph to have reminding him of his presence throughout your years.

Not excited about the BER months they tend to start warming up here, enjoy your clambering toward festivities it really feels the years pass far too quickly.

The photo shows great appeal and I will sometimes look at and see myself standing there. A bit taller as my father was relatively short 😁

Usually the opposite here the cold comes. Where it's cold it's warm or vice versus, hehe.

Seeing resemblance to our parents sounds about right. Have yourself a great time if you enjoy the cooler half of the year like I do.

I suppose with 6000 HP you would reach the Dolphin rank on the leaderboard of Hive. Good to see you on Hive growing. You will get to the goal of 6K even earlier at this pace :)

Thank you that is a goal that I will take pride in achieving 😁

Yes good memories are the ones worth hanging onto.

If I do I'm not too far away from 1st week in December. If I put up tree now company and friends would ask, "Did you not take down your tree from last Christmas." πŸ˜‚ 🀣 πŸ˜‚

Brilliant HPUD and congrats on another PUM, I am not sure when I last managed it. I keep missing days!

I am sorry about your Dad, losing him at such a young age was awful. My family has a history of heart disease and my grandfather passed away at 48. All my childhood and even up to my thirties I thought I would never see 50 and so partyied like a fluffing animal. Well I did make to 50 so it shows we never really know what will happen.

Yeah the Ber months, I first heard that many years ago when I got to know some filipinos.

Lovely to see you helping new Hivians too!

Welcome to Hive @melll & @renacris do reach out if ever you need anything

Yes HPUM can be difficult I had a streak of 5 months once than fell off the cliff for like 5 months after, haha.

Yeah I was young and it was my father's bad habit of smoking that cut his life short. I learned not to pick up the habit because of that.

Oh yeah same here I learned about the Ber months through Filipinos. I have even had some fun with it.

Thanks for dropping by and I wish you well 😁

Nice job on that power up and getting a silver name. I still haven't, I'm still in denial that I'm not 21 anymore...

Rough way to hear about your father's death, that must have really sucked. About to play and some news that knocks everything right out of you. Both my parents died right around the holidays so it's hard not to think about them every Christmas. The anniversary for me is still tough years later, I bet it is for you too.

Have a good rest of your Sunday, best part is it's a holiday tomorrow. I love long weekends!

Well I think a lot of us are young at heart, haha. I know I am still, never no when is the time so best live it.

I bet Christmas hits you hard. It's really is part of life and we all learn how to cope with it in our ways.

Oh yes the extra days added to weekends makes it enjoyable. Like free PTO, hehe.

Haha I was thinking about that the other day as this is the first time we will be celebrating Christmas as family.

But thinking where to kept the Christmas treeπŸŽ„πŸŽ„ after was the problem 🀣

It will be so memorable :) No need to have a tree then if you don't have a place to store it afterward πŸ˜…

I'd say but a real one you could throw away after use but I was just reading they are really expensive there. The last time I bought a real one it was about $30 but there so messy so I opted to get an artificial which can be spendy here.

Thank you I truly believe he's happy with a lot of company 😁

So when does your family typically decorate your tree? Now what I'm even later at doing sometimes is getting gifts. There's time I have gotten them on Christmas Eve, hehe.

The year your Dad passed away, was the year I was born.

So it's been three decades yet I was touch on how you still warmly remembers your Dad!

Merry Christmas by the way! 😁

Somethings seem like they were a long time ago while others don't. That day I remember so many details making it seem like it wasn't that long ago.

Merry Christmas πŸŽ„ 🎁 β›„ 😁

That’s a very interesting reflection and story of unforgettable phases of one’s life. You have so much positive energy and vibes which affect those around you via your kindness. You belong to the old world of cultured and learned ambiance.
