Getting Away From Work Some This Weekend
Hello Hivers and friends. I hope all is well for everyone. For me, it's been hetic with work and other life struggles. I haven't been too active here lately and that's why. So when I got off Friday, I decided to do something other than work. Part of me still wanted to grind working because I really do need the extra income. The other part of me knew I needed a break from the hustle and bustle.
I had to work some crazy shifts at my full-time job during the week. I had two 13-hour days and one day I worked 11 hours. Every day, I made deliveries driving 3-4 hours in addition to what I worked already at my full-time job except on Friday.
That's right, I went straight to a lake first when I got off work! I only caught 3 fish in about 90 minutes, so decided to give another place a try. I was sure glad I did. It was already about 7:00 p.m. when I arrived and knew I only had about an hour before it got too dark. It was like the fish were starving. Just about every cast, I caught a fish. I also did not have to work the place by moving to different spots. It's been quite some time I had this much luck fishing. I must have caught 50 fish the little less than an hour I was there. Also many were keepable sizes for the species I caught. Hence, there are no pictures of the place, what I used or even a selfie of me holding some of my catches. The fishing was so good that all my focus went into it. I savored every second of it and felt this is freaking awesome!
Ok, I'll let you know my little early spring tatics tor some panfishing. I use a light weight rod and reel because it's more fun that way. The reel is threaded with either 4 lb or 6 lb monofilament test line. I use a small 1/64 ounce feathered jig. I carry just three colors white, black and yellow. I typically tip these jigs with Power Bait's little nibbles, better known as crappie bites. I use a small torpedo shaped float bobber, which I had about 24 inches up from the jig. Later this spring or summer, that depth will decrease, but I typically go no less than 12 inches. There's my tip, so go catch some fish now because I can't catch them for you 🤣
After I was done fishing, I went home to drop off a few fish for my own consumption. I then headed over to drop some fish off to some friends. They were very appreciative and even whipped up some simple noodles for me to eat. They also told me to stop by Saturday afternoon for a fish lunch surprise.
That night, I got some of the best sleep I had in a very long time. I was in bed by ten and didn't get up until around nine the next morning. I was just so beat physically, but I woke up feeling so refreshed. What I did the rest of the day was pamper myself some.
The first thing on the agenda was to get a haircut. I ended up getting one after stopping at three different places. It was rainy day, so I guess everyone had the same idea as me. My next stop was something I hadn't done since the end of the summer.
I was over due for some new feet rubber, hehe. I much enjoyed the pedicure not only for the relaxation but the conversation I had with my technician. The conversation took off when she asked if I had plans for the weekend. I explained that most of it has been done and mentioned I went fishing yesterday. She told me that she goes fishing very often. I pulled out my phone and showed her what I had caught yesterday. She was very knowledgeable and actually knew what kind of fish they were. She asked where I caught them at and later on told me of all the local places she has fished at. She even showed me some pictures of fish she had caught. I really was caught off guard. I didn't think my techinician would have been a fisherlady. Anyways, she was wearing sandals and she had some nice-looking feet. I say that because you only get to see mine 😆
Next up, it was time to cash in on my fish lunch surprise. I dug in quickly before realizing I should capture a picture for you to see 😆 Now that you have seen it you can still tell I had me some fish soup. It was a perfect lunch for a cold rainy day. They paired it up with a potato 🥔 which was really yummy together. Not a bad deal, catch some fish, give it to some friends and they prepare a meal out of it.
Well Sunday I went back to the hustle and bustle. This week is another crazy work week where I will work many more additional hours. I just look ahead to the next weekend, hoping I will have some more time to myself. The vicious cycle of needing to work to make things meet!
Thanks for stopping by to read me today. Take care, stay safe and have a great week ahead. Until next time! Hopefully it will be sooner than the last time 🙏

Wow, @coolmidwestguy I see in the photo you shared that you have caught a lot of fish.
Yes there was a fantastic bite on. The last two times I went it was far less activity.
It is great you enjoyed eating these fish.
Good to read you again amigo! I understand well that when we are busy there are other priorities... it happens to me too specially now in April and May. At least you had some relaxing moments 😌
Happy April!!!

Thanks for the appreciation 😃 The small break away was much needed looking back on it. You also have a great week ahead.
That's a lot of fish. It will definitely taste well when we fish and cook them for ourselves. About the long hours of sleep it definitely is relaxing when we get long hours of undisturbed sleep.
Yes the sleep surprised me, I can't even remember the last time that I slept that long. Usually I get 5 to 6 hours of sleep. I know i need more 💡
👍
Did you hook your pants while fishing? 😆
Ok, jokes aside, it's nice to see you didn't have to go home empty handed.
Haha no pants hooked. Yes I filled the cooler up quick. Even if I went empty handed, time fishing is better than no fishing at all 😀
God bless our hustle , the stress of work can be overwhelming
Yes and it can quickly drag one down after time if you don't have separation from it.
Nice 🙂. Catches Brother!
Thanks 😊
Happy to hear that you made it and went fishing! It looks like the Universe knew you needed it, and it served you a lot of fish! 😃
I didn't hustle that much like you, but I do miss fishing. I've been procrastinating that for a long time, but eventually, I will do it. I hope... 😃
Have a great week!
It was defintely like all the stars lined up that evening. It surely was one of the better outings I have ever had. I told some friends about it and they fished the next morning there and had similiar luck. Maybe my next destination again but I do want to chase some other species of fish at other locations. A little hard to do when the catch rate is that high there.
Well work it appears it may calm down some after this week. I'm on 12 hour shifts until Friday. I'm hoping it ends while working Friday.
Hopefully you hit the water soon they can't be caught if your not there, jaja. I forgot and since you moved how far is the closest place to you?
It is over an hour of driving... There is one lake closer, but I never caught a fish there, so I have some doubts... 🤣 (The truth is that I was there 2-3 times, but still... 😂)

Hehehe. I was wondering where we're you. 😛. Luck is at your side this time😁.
Haha been busy but that fishing outing was certainly satisfactory. I didn't even need a fish ring either. Hopefully soon it will happen again 😁
Yeah, who needs the fish ring when you're lucky enough to attract fish this time😁😌.
Exactly and I don't need any rings on my finger anyways
Yes, with Ben by your side😛😌😌.
Haha, oh how is that arrangement going for you (joking)?
😛😛
That's a lot of fish. I like that kind to be fried, but soup is good in cold season ☺️ try the Filipino fish tinola, you will like it?

I'll have to be on the look out for the next time I visit the market. Just a thought, I haven't ate fish american style for quite some time, haha. Well I haven't prepared any myself actually 😆

That's a lot of busy work you've had lately. Good thing you took some time off and seriously scored fishing, those are some great catches! You got to keep that secret spot private. Always good to get in some relaxation and time to take care of yourself, not one else is going to do it!
Glad you're doing okay, it's been awhile since I've seen you around here!
Yes been busy to the extreme. It was nice to have a short break from it all. This week much of the same. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel sometimes it's just further away.
Amigo, I missed this post but I'm glad to be here now and see all the energy you got from fishing. And also to look at her pretty feet hahaha.... ;)
What I think is that life rewarded you, that despite the hard work you had when you finally thought about your leisure, the Universe said: let's give joy to this good man!
I'm glad you're back after so many days without posting.
Thank you Amiga. Well I will take whatever life will reward me and be grateful of it. Whether that is being blessed witb many fish or getting a pedi from a pretty feet girl, jaja.
A lot of the same happened this week work wise but all comes to an end. Same goes with life, good and bad. A hard stretch will turn into a promising one eventually 😃
