Garage Findings & My Sunday

Hello friends and Hivians. Oh the heat has been on here lately. Fornately starting today it's suppose to cool down. This past Sunday was a hot busy day for me. Today I tell you a bit about my Sunday and what I came across cleaning out my garage.

I woke up pretty early and started the day out with a cup of coffee. I hung around inside the house for awhile waiting for a good time to start some yard work. I'd start as soon as I can see outside but I have to respect any neighbors that may be sleeping.

Start time was around 9:00 a.m. and I realized I could of started earlier because I still had some tree debris in the front and back yards I raked up. On Wednesday we had a severe wind storm. I got most of the debris picked up after the storm had passed that day. So there wasn't a lot to pick up just leaves and small twigs. I have a pile of about the same amount behind my fence in the backyard which I will utilize as firewood.

Mowing took about two hours to complete. I did my front yard, back yard and an area behind my fence line. I even brought out Mr. Weed Wacker so I did basically everything except for edging the yard near the driveway and sidewalk. Another time for that 😁

After I finished mowing surprisingly I had some energy left. Despite it being a day that hovered near and above 38° C I decided it would be a good idea to clean out the garage. I won't be showing before and after pictures but I will share some of the surprises and things I found. Now I do have a boat and an older Chevy truck which both have more or less turned into storage containers. Most of the things I will share were found and discovered in them.

These are items I used and when I returned home I left them in the garage. I have a man cave in my basement where I store all my fishing gear. These just were on vacation and never made it back to the proper places. They weren't gone all that long. The ice fishing pole was last used in February and the box of plastic lures sometime last fall. They have now returned home!

I found this about a year too late. This was misplaced by someone who last walked the dog with it. There was a great search for this item. Spent hours in the house looking for it and sometime in the garage as well. In the end I had to buy another one. I guess we now have a spare 😁

So these are mess kits that I acquired many years ago. I knew where one of them was at but somehow the other got separated from the other. I've decided to move quite a bit of camping gear inside in the Man Cave. It will really free up quite a bit of space in the garage. This includes other items such sleeping bags, Coleman camp stove, lanterns and a few others.

Tools seem to not always make there way back to where they are stored. This a rather small collection of them that didn't make it back. I wish I could say that about some tools that are inside the house. Anyways...

What you see above are 6 reflective belts. I sometimes work irregular hours and during darkness I'm required to wear when I'm performing duties outside. I often go through the garage when entering my house. So I guess I've taken these belt off a few times before going inside. It's all good all have been returned back to work, haha. They have nothing on the amount of pens I have accumulated 🤪

What you see above is a CamelBack. It's a device you wear like a back pack that stores water for on the go. It's got a drinking tube so you can drink from it while wearing it. I think I used this last summer maybe the summer before on one of my fishing outings. It's still in good serviceable condition. Just needs a little cleaning. Since I found it, to I will probably use it very soon.

I found this coin in a bin I went through. To be completely honest I didn't even know I had it. It's a gambling coin from Blackbird Bend casino. I remember going there some 15 years ago (I think) and playing some blackjack. I also remember not doing so well but hey at least I have a souvenir 😂 This has now made it's way to a small coin collection I have.

A few months back a co-worker of mine mentioned how he wanted to get one of his kids into karate. At the time I told him I would look for some gear that my son has grown out of. I also had some striking and blocking pads. I ended up finding it buried in the truck bed under some other things. It's now with the new owner and a happy kid 😁

I must have spent a good six hours cleaning and reorganizing my garage. I filled up a recycle bin of mostly cardboard and had about a half dozen tall kitchen bags of trash. I also have some items that I will donate such as some throw blankets, jackets, clothes and even a small dog kennel. Another thing is I have some scrap metal that I can take in and get a few bucks. Also a good amount of useless stuff I will take to the dump. Now it feels good to have somewhat of organized and clean garage. I'm glad I did it even though I definitely sweated my pores out. It's nice to find things and have a plan to put them back into use.

Take care, stay safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time!

Thanks that took its toll on me and I'm feeling a bit sore two days later, haha. Hey today though we had a cold front come in which brought in cool comfortable weather for the next few days 😁

Yes it was much needed and I even felt like it was a work out. Body felt pretty sore yesterday (never the day after but the 2nd, haha)but feels better today. I could have probably picked a cooler day to do it, hehe.

Yesterday we had a work morale get together at a place off site where families were invited. So I seen the kid and he came up to me thanked me 😁

It's really good to do this, to enter to a garage or other room to organize objects and specially to find some others that we forgot... nice surprises and curious things like that coin! But too hot for that task!😅 Happy day amigo!

Haha that was nice of you to consider your neighbor 😊.

I remembered in my younger years, lol .
I am living in a house provided by the company along with my co- workers. And speaking of , some are too lazy to do the cleaning. On my part, since I can't stand, of course I would spend hours on my rest day. Yet, if I am in the bitchy mood, I would start as early as I wanted, even move louder 🤣.

And mind you, no one could use the kitchen if I am cleaning 🤣.

I got decent neighbors. So the this rule stands, do upon to others what they would do to you. Since there's respect I show it to them 😁

Haha did your being loud early and cleaning the kitchen (during hungry time) change some peoples laziness? 🤣

Oh yeah the golden rule, that's my motto in life now 😉.

Ah hahha ,well they are nice enough to ask permission for me if they can use the kitchen already 🤣

That's one hell of a day! Sorting through the garage can be a huge task.... Glad you found your camelback, I use mine every time I go hiking or prospecting. Got it in when I was in the Army and it still works!

You found all sorts of goodies, too bad the token wasn't silver or it would be worth money! lol

What condition is the boat in? If you use it for storage rather than boating I assume it needs some work along with the old Chevy?

It was nice finding the camelback, got mine from the service as well. I own a lot of used gear that I had or seen when I served. Plus it helps still having connections with individuals that issue out mobility gear, haha. Stuff they replace finds a good home. I will more than likely use it the next time I adventure out. It beats carrying a jug of water or water bottles around.

The boat is in good shape but now I don't have a vehicle to haul it around with. I should probably sell it but will wait until spring when the demand is greater. Just a 14 foot Jon Boat. The truck is a 72 C-10 it's a project. Currently pretty much torn down for restoration. I have had it since 2000 so it's been in the works, haha. Probably should just send it off to get done.

Wow! Your effort put me to shame. I still haven’t sorted out all the boxes in the storage room. I meant to reorganise all these belongings months ago. The prospect of doing hours of work had put me off!

Haha don't feel bad I put this off for quite some time simply because I knew it would take some time. Everything that doesn't really have home elsewhere ends up in the garage. So after awhile the clutter builds up, hehe.

Hopefully when you do it will be a positive experience. I mean maybe you will find some lost forgotten treasures 😁 I'm sure once you complete it you will feel good and accomplished.

Thank you very much for your encouragement and motivation. I forgot how good I felt the last time I got new shelves set up and got all the boxes to full them up.
I have something positive to look forward to now! 🙏🐈🐈
