Dentist Days

Hello Silver Bloggers Community. Today I'm here to give you update on a busy week that's coming to a close. Most of it will include my journey to have a tooth pulled.

It all started on Monday when I had a dentist appointment at my normal dentist office. My appointment time was at 3:50. I didn't sit in the waiting room long even though I got there early at about 3:35. I sat down took these few shots above and was thinking I'll check out Hive. I didn't get to and my name was called before I had that chance.

The dental technician took me back to a room. The technician asked me about my issues and what I wanted to do. I just said I'm looking to have one of my teeth pulled that I think has a root canal cavity. I had intially thought I had broke a filling from that tooth. She took a quick look and told me I actually lost part of my real tooth and I never had a filling in that tooth.

I had a couple of X-rays done and a panoramic picture taken of my teeth. Once that was done I seen the dentist shortly after. The dentist tried to sell me on getting a root canal procedure done. I told her an abstraction is best for me at this time. She told me they didn't want to risk doing the abstraction because my tooth was 1/3 gone and they didn't want to risk it snapping. So I was giving a referral to an Oral Surgeon.

Unfortunately by the time I got done it was too late to travel to my son's basketball game I had planned to go to. I did get to watch it on a free live feed though. His team had a sloppy performance and he had his worst performance of the year. They lost the game and he was kind of in a foul mood when I picked him when he returned back to his school. He scored 9 points, much below his average of 21 points per game. They play that team again at home next Friday so I just told him next time. I did make it to his Tuesday game out of town and he has one more on Friday.

Tuesday, I went into work and started to make some calls. I tried calling a dentistry school to have them do the work but I couldn't get a through to them. Probably way backed up,so I called the referral I was given.

I got ahold of them pretty quickly and they had availability on Wednesday at 10:50. I have a appointment with my general practitioner(GP) at 11:30 that same day so I asked what was the next appointment time. They told me not until 12 February so I took the first appointment than called and rescheduled my GP appointment to 31 January.

Well Tuesday for lunch I went to a Filipino restaurant. I took some pictures and talked about the experience in my last article. I really didn't have dinner that night I just snacked a little.

I figured I'd make me good breakfast Wednesday morning (picture above.) I usually only make this much for breakfast on the weekends. I really didn't know at the time what exactly I was going to be able to eat if I had a tooth removed. So I had this great little breakfast in case it may be awhile before I can eat something like it again. It included a two egg omelette scramble with mushroom, green peppers, melted cheese and black olives. I also had two sausage patties, sliced pears and two pieces of multigrain toast.

Fast forwarding here a bit, I arrived at the Oral surgeon at about 10:40. I checked in and went to go sit down. I sat for maybe 15 seconds and my name was called. The technician brought me to the room and pulled up my X-rays onto a display screen. She went over what to expect and had me sign and initial somethings on their care policy. It was great thing the dentist was able to take care of it because when I set the appointment it was not guaranteed the services would be done.

Not long after that the billing clerk came in to show me the full amount that I was responsible for. It was a relief to only see $40. Shortly after that the dentist came in.

The procedure was simple he gave me a shot at the roof of the mouth. That was really the only pain I felt and it wasn't that bad. I heard a little bit of a crunching sound when he pulled the tooth out. Maybe 5 seconds it took once he got a grip on tooth. He left than the technician asked if I wanted to see the tooth.

I said sure and she pointed with a utensil where the tooth was soft. When she did that some more of the tooth fell apart. She had mentioned that a root canal procedure on it would have maybe been a 50/50 success rate at best. I'm just glad I got this sucker out! I can't imagine it was doing any good sticking around.

From walking in to walking out I was only there 25 minutes. I never expected it to be so quick. Above is my walking papers and my get the rest of the day off from work note. Also the note has a restriction for no physical labor for Thursday (Today.)

Well it's almost been 24 hours since having my tooth yanked. I feel so much better now, I wonder how many ailments have been lifted. The eating part is not so bad, just have to chew on my left side of mouth currently. I can eat most food as long as it's not something that requires a lot of chewing. I think it will only be a day or two I'll be back to eating normally. Also I don't have any more bleeding, it's great because the gauze wearing was probably the worst part of it for me. Well next week holds more medical appointment and more basketball games.

Well that's it for this guy today. Take care, stay safe and enjoy what remains of the week.

Ohhh what a day, not the best for you and definitively not so good for your son, but sure he will win again soon. About your tooth take care, teeth are important to eat! 😅 (the good thing is that procedure took not much time and the calligraphy of that one who wrote the document is cute 😊 jajaja that is the detail that I observe! jaja) Anyway amigo, have a good day still there and tomorrow Friday as well.

No you shouldn't but I made it to 50 before losing a tooth.

At the beginning of season it was two times a week with one week with 3 games. Last two weeks and most of the rest of season he will play 3 games a week.

Oh btw...

I started yesterday and finished today. It lost some weight today because it rained. I was worried it was going to fall haha.

Just on the hook for a polar bear now, haha

The new crave implants are even more. Someone told me that a whole set of implants is 30K 😲 I miss being in the military where dental was completely taken care of for free.

The day before before he wasn't finished yet but you can definitely see the difference, haha. Snowman don't like showers, haha. Glad you liked 😊

The new trend is implants. I guess that is why it's so expensive. Dentures will be a thing of the past. I guess the days of taking out your teeth before bed time and placing them on end table maybe coming to an end, haha.

Weather warming up and more rain to end the week. Temperatures will only be as low of 1°C and highs up to 10°C. Hmm how long will your Snowman survive? I guess 5 days. You want to put a guess in? hehe

Hey I just got my dentist visit too for my yearly teeth cleaning and fixing some fillings.

Thank God it's only $40! It is for sure a relief to see a small bill. I know dental health is expensive! Great that your yanked tooth is okay now.

Dental work is expensive. If I had got a root canal it would have close to $2000 with the crown and all. I checked to get cleaning there booked to September

Ouch!

My dentist's charge for crown for 1 tooth is 500 usd, cleaning is 20 usd in the Philippines.

My insurance pays for all preventive. Two free cleanings a year. A normal cavity filling is about $70. Just for a crown it's around your price of $500

Glad it is all sorted and yeah you don't want a root canal.

I'm glad you were able to fix the tooth, there's nothing worse than a toothache.
Your son will surely try to get even in the next game and score more.
Take care!

I went the cheap route but in the long run seeing the tooth it would of been a risky and expensive root canal.

I'm sure my son will be ready the next time he plays that team. The next day/game he scored 27 points 😊

Lucky you've decided to pull it out instead of root canal, for it is already soft.😬

Yea it was kinda disgusting it was pretty decayed. I should have taken care of this awhile back. Just an example of us guys putting things off for too long 🤣

Take care and your day off right around the corner. Hope you have fun plans for it 😊
