A Snowman's Life
Hello friends and fellow Hiveans. Here today to show you can make things from nature. It's amazing that it can be too cold outside to do things. Than all of a sudden the weather turns and you can go out and enjoy it. For today's article I'm going to share a snowman I started on Wednesday. The weather here has been warmer and I have been documenting the snowman's fate each day.
Day 1
The snow was still sort of fluffy but a bit wet. I started rolling the head first than did the middle section. I saved the bottom for last. There's no particular reason why I did it this way. It's been awhile since I made one and usually I build from the bottom up.
So here we have the birth of the snowman, 24 January 2024. I didn't finish him on day one, to be honest I went with the flow and didn't plan what I was going to use for everything. Once I got everything stacked I began thinking about some fixtures for him.
I came to the conclusion I will use two flat rocks for his eyes. Hey I don't have any coal laying around, haha. For a hat, I just decided to use a black beanie. Nope no black top hat 🎩 laying around in the house. The arms are typical for a snow man, some branches. I have some brush and wood behind the fence. You can see it if you look beyond him. The only thing I added today that was planned was the carrot for his nose.
Day 2
Well the snowman lost a lot of weight since the day before. This is because it rained some this day. I think our snowman doesn't like to take showers.
Once I got off work I went to the snowman to finish some more detail. I folded up a throw blanket (one in bad shape) and made use of it as a scarf for the snowman. For his mouth and his breast buttons I used some fruit loops, haha. I felt that the snow man can't be a true one without a pipe. So I actually used some corn cobs with a few tooth picks to make it look like I pipe. No I did not shave a bowl or pierce a whole through the long shank, it's not functional, haha.
I'll admit something to you all. I had plans to make a snow women. I even had two nice shaped snow breast pieces put on but something else made this fail. I was going to make a dress out of leaves but the darn things would not stick. I would get one or two on it then the third one would make the other two fall. I wasn't about to buy hundreds of thumb tacks to make this happen. It would have taken forever but I think I could have pulled it off. Hair I was thinking of making out of dried leafs from a corn plant. That I could have made happen by tucking it under the beanie. There you go @jane1289 that was kind of my thoughts that didn't materialize for the promised snowman. If I would have pulled it off I would have named the snow women, Janie 😂 🤣 😂 Anyways we have the typical gender snow man.
Day 3
The temperature on Friday nearly reached 40° F (4.4° C). The snow man is still here but lost almost all the fruit loops. The pipe is also barely hanging on his face. A little thinner in the face and you can tell it's more sunken in.
Day 4
Oh no we have a one eyed snowman and he lost his pipe. His last eye is holding on for dear life. Same as yesterday the temperatures was about the same, but the sun was out. Hey it's pretty cool to see a shadow of a snowman, right? I bet our snowman is not a fan of shadows though, hehe.
I believe he will lose is other eye by tomorrow. I think his carrot nose will fall after that. I'm unsure about his arms and his head falling. The arms are stuck in there pretty good though so those may be the last thing to go.
I thought about fixing him everyday but I thought this would be more fun guessing when he meets his demise. How many more days do you think he will survive? I think he will make it four more days (Day 8).
Here is a screen shot from my weather bug app so you a have better educated guess when he becomes part of the ground snow. All these temperatures are in Fahrenheit. If it were Celsius he would surely be a puddle of water in no time, haha. Let's guess I want to hear your thoughts. I'll try to keep you posted on his status 😊
That's all I got today. For those that haven't seen a snow man in real life I hope you enjoyed it. Take care, stay safe and enjoy what's left of the weekend. Until next time!
Haha.. You truly documented Snowman's life...too bad that you didn't pursue making the female one haha.. I thought a few minutes is enough to make a snowman.. .you did a good job, though, gathering everything to make it perfect hehe.. Reminds me of Olaf from Frozen
I really wanted to do a female one. Maybe in the future I will accomplish, no promises, haha. It can be quick to make, rolling is easy but it's the packing of snow to give it shape that takes time. In a bit when the sunrise happens I will check on him.
Olaf, haha ya he does because he is a slimmer snowman.
Nice work though.. I wish I could make my own snowman someday too hehe

Thanks Amiga. You enjoy your Sunday as well :)
Lucky you! I was planning to make a snowman this winter, but no such luck here. So now I have to enjoy your snowman ⛄️ 😅
Hopefully you will have the opportunity soon. Crazy weather everywhere I wonder if this will be the only opportunity I will have.
I don't think so, but who knows. You know what's sad? We always have a mild winter, with the lowest temperature being around -12°C, then in March, beginning of April, when the gardening season should start, comes cold and some snow too, throwing off everything.
I have a lilac bush on the side of the house. It's not often it blooms correctly because it gets the right weather than all of a sudden we get a freeze stopping its progress 😢
That is a huge risk every year here too, especially for the vine. Some years frost can really do a lot of damage 🙁
Yup and the bush is over 20 feet tall so no covering it to prevent. Sadly I have thought of getting rid of it but I like the smell of lilac.
Why get rid of it? No way! I don't agree!
It's a thought its massive. Well not something that will happen this year and when it blooms those thoughts go away. Crossing fingers it blooms this year and if it does I'll share with you friend 😊
Thank you, that would be lovely 😍 👌
Ahh it was my dream to build a snowman!
I bet not being in a cold environment it is a dream. Maybe you travel to the cold one day and enjoy doing so with the kids ☺️

I would like to build a snowman if given a chance, I would make a family of snowman, but I think it's not as easy as I imagined.😌😁
That's interesting I've never made more than one at a time. Than build them a Snow Fort. Snow family, hehe ♥️

Haha, the snowman is so funny. Reminds me I need to do snowman as well with the kids sooner.
I took a morning picture and one right before sunset. It looks freaking hilarious now. I can't wait to share.
