Splinterlands - Social Media Challenge - A Magic Reflect Battle With No Attack Monster Used
Hello Friends,

Source
Good day my friends, hope your Thursday has been good so far and your time on Splinterlands is enjoyable. It's been almost 5 days since I last posted as I have been bit busy with my office work and also spending some extra time on X as I am on the verge of getting my first paycheck as I am monetized.
Splinterlands has been exciting off late with latest changes with regards to exclusive cards, Land 1.75, usage of grains on land and updates on Conclave Arcana.
Coming back to this week's Social Media Challenge, here I am sharing a battle which is bit peculiar because, I saw the magic reflect ruleset and used a no attack monster in Baakjira in the front position as there was just 14 MANA cost cap for this battle.
Here I share further details on this and also on the lineup apart from Baakjira.

Battle and Lineup:

https://splinterlands.com/battle/sl_8f869fd9560746f1312377d1d39006f4?ref=coolguy123
The battle, as I mentioned above, had just 14 MANA cap and 3 out of that was used for summoner Kelya Frendul and that means, another 11 MANA cost is available to select the monsters which also should take on the magic reflect, stampede and even stevens rule sets.
So, based on this information, here is the lineup I selected.
Lineup:
1. Baakjira:

I thought a strong monster at the front with healing ability will server half of the purpose to take on non magic monsters as there was the magic reflect rule set and obviously we won't be seeing many magic monsters.
It did it's duty by healing itself although it doesn't have any attack.
So, with 11 MANA cost available to select monsters, 6 was used for this to just hold that all important front position intact.
This is one monster I have been using very less and this was a great chance to explore it further and make a good use of it to save the battle.
2. Igor Darkspear:

The magic reflect made me to use 2 ranged attack monsters with 2 MANA cost each out of the remaining 5 MANA cost and since this battle is with even stevens ruleset, only monsters with even cost are allowed.
This monster was particularly used to stun the monster it attacks and makes it non attacking or non healing for a round and that would give me advantage as I have a healing monster at the front.
3. Xenith Archer:

The other ranged attack monster is this Xenith Archer and this is also a monster with 2 MANA cost and gives 2 ranged attack with 4 speed and has good enough health of 5.
This was also instrument in this win as it kept on attacking the front monster of the opponent and it was a good ally to Igor Darkspear.
4. Torrent Fiend:

Last on my lineup is this Zero MANA cost monster of Torrent fiend as I positioned it last for any sneak attack, but, there wasn't in this battle.
These Zero MANA cost monsters are known to save the battle from losing at critical times as even the simple 3 or 4 health these might have is also enough to keep the battle active and win it.

That was the lineup and as you could see, the 14 MANA cap allowed me to use just 4 monsters including Zero MANA cost monster and although it didn't make much difference, I was able to win this battle from the remaining 3 monsters with Baakjira holding front position and Igor Darkspear and Xenith Archer ensuring that, they don't leave any enemy monster to stay in the battle.
Here I am sharing few screenshots from the battle with each of those containing the last breath of a monster and all 4 monsters in this case were from opponent as you can see below.
This has been a short but nice battle which was super fast, but still enjoyable.
My opponent too used a healing tank at the front in the form of Xenith Monk, but, it's health of 8 wasn't enough for it to save as it was stunned by Igor Darkspear and couldn't heal itself to get succumbed to the combined 5 attack from Igor Darkspear and Xenith Archer as we saw in the battle.
Sometimes, the monster we underestimate are the ones which gives us win. I was sure that the Igor Darkspear will be a force and have been using that, but the other ranged attack monster of Xenith Archer wasn't explored much by me and that gave a glimpse of it's ability in this battle as it was equal to the attack of Igor Darkspear and was crucial in this win.

I hope you enjoyed going thru this battle and I will be back soon with another One on Splinterlands. Till then, take car and good bye.
Thanks and Have a good day :)
