Spend wisely, save internationally
Christmas and New Year period is the season to show love to families, friends, and neighbors and help the needy.
It's also time for people to show off their hustle for the year; it is still time that many lose their lives and never gain them back.
It's also time for sober reflections on how far you have come this year, and it's also time for jubilation and gyration.
Traveling during the festive period has rendered many people, I will say, hopeless or helpless in the new year.
Every time we want to travel to the village during Christmas. Their this stuff my mom will always do, which I intend to do with my kids, too.
It saves me from being helpless and strangled in the village or even coming back and having no money left.
From our house before we lift out bags, that we are traveling. My mom will ask all of us to sit down. Let me have your transport money for coming back.

At first, it looks weird, but you dare not refuse; we will hand it over to her, and then the next thing you will hear, let me have your budget money for the new year; God help you, no budget money for January; you are not traveling anywhere.
As we grew older, my mother made us open three accounts; one account she calls a don't touch account. One is an emergency account, and the last one is a day-to-day account.
Look, that strategy with mummy has really helped us, that's why if others are crying about hardships in the new year, especially January, which used to appear to be 72 days in people's eyes, I have never cried.
From October, my nummy will make sure you have drafted out your plans for next year, and she will check out our budget for the new year, which will allow us to know if we are traveling home or not.
It's not until December; we do plan it from October; we always have some days we will stay in the village and travel back to base. So, nobody exceeds that day, except my dad at times.
As an adult now, I always plan ahead; if I must travel, what are the necessary things I need, and then how many days will I stay? If I travel with what I have, what will be left of me? If I come back a new year. These are questions I ask myself
I make sure that I set my priorities right for the new year; I mind how I spend during the festive period. That's one major reason people go broke.
I remember one festive period when my mother didn't travel with us, and my cousin traveled with us. Haven't learned from my mother how to survive the new year.
He is this life of a party kind of person, which is why we were careful about how we spent our money; he was busy spending extravagantly. Even when we try to make him stop, he won't.
We all let him be, time to go back.
Uncle doesn't have any money again, not even in his account, how you will wonder. He was hoping his elder brother would come around as promised, so he was just spending without leaving any penny, so the brother didn't come around, and his number wasn't connecting.
He has to use his phone to loan money and travel back home; he can't even resume school immediately cause their father fell sick while he was in the village; he has even eaten his school fees, thinking he can get it back from the brother.
We laughed at him, and he asked us how we were able to survive without worries. We just related our little secret.
Before you lift that bag to your hometown or anywhere, check your pocket. Can you survive the beginning of the year if you travel? If you can't stay back, there is still another year to come, so don't go acting as a philanthropist.

Oh that is a brilliant idea. I have a budget I run too and tightly in fact. Nice to see that the youths still pick up something from the parents.
Yeah
This festive season comes with a lot of temptation when it comes to spending our finances. That's why one has to be very careful this period. Your mum did a great job in raising you people the way she did.
Thank you
Your mum is a smart woman and I'm in love with her tactic..it's simply a nice way to tackle the unconscious spending in Christmas
I have learned something new
