Learning isn't easy but it's worthy it
While growing up, I have always wanted to learn everything that comes my way with the thought that no knowledge is a waste. If my cousin can learn up to three skills, I can too, but little do I know that not everything is for me.
I have always wanted to be a doctor, but because my cousin convinced me that art is good, I jumped in on my SS 1 focusing on art. However, I kept having problems with government and history. I just find them very boring and unentertaining. The reason I was easily convinced was that I was struggling with mathematics back then.
After the second term, I found out that art is not for me. I love experimenting, especially bringing something that is dead back to life. I experiment to understand why things are the way they are. When I finished secondary school, I wanted to learn a skill. I chose to pursue hairdressing, not because I had a passion for it, but because my cousin wanted to learn it.
I joined, but deep down I wanted to go for catering. Following others didn't allow me. I couldn't cope at all with the standing. Funny how I can actually weave someone all back before we went there, but on getting there, I can't stand for long; my waist will be on fire.I quiz, and she pays for me to go for another skill without ever asking me what I wanted. Each time I try to let her know makeup and catering are what I want, she waves it off.
I didn't have the money then to pay for what I wanted, so I went ahead with all of her suggestions because she was paying for it. Next, she paid for me to learn tailoring. When my mother heard about it, she was just laughing at her because my mother was a seamstress and had tried many times to teach me how to sew, but all attempts were futile.
You can see why she was laughing at my cousin. She asked my cousin to go and collect her money back before it's too late. I didn't even attend the class for a day as I hated sewing more than hair making.Well, after trying to force down her passion in me, she decided to ask me what I want to learn. I told her, but she refused, saying she doesn't have money for that.
Well, I joined a free skill acquisition and started learning catering. At first, it was as if I couldn't grasp anything. It turned out that the problem wasn't me, but the teachers. Not everyone can impart knowledge to others. Because when I started using my phone to learn, I was fast to grasp everything. My first cake surprised everybody at home.
It was soft and delicious. I made spring rolls, then came samosas, other native soups from different towns that weren't made in my house. Later, I went back to learn tailoring online and in person. In two days, I could operate the sewing machine, and within one month, I could sew simple gowns because my teacher was very patient and kind. She is always busy on weekdays, but weekends are for us.That's how I acquired two skills without stress, but tailoring still gives me stress from time to time.

Thank 💕 you for stopping by my blog
I firmly believe on this quote that "no knowledge is a waste." This desire is rooted in You from your childhood aspiration to learn various skills, Thank fully you get inspired partly by a cousin who had successfully learned multiple skills. you are right, not every skill is for everyone.
Yes oo. Thank you
You're right no knowledge is a waste. Though I'm not that good in sewing good but I can sew the one's I can. I'm glad you were able to acquire your skill(catering) because now your cousin that was saying she won't pay for your catering money will now be the one coming to you to help her make cake. And yes not every skills are meant for everyone, just because your friend is a hairdresser and she's good at it doesn't mean you will be also good at it.
Exactly
Teaching can be tricky, some people are knowledgeable but lacks the ability to teach others. Moreover, it might just be that your previous teachers couldn't understand how to make you understand what they were teaching.
Thankfully you were able to find a way to learn, that is why I always encourage people not to copy others pattern of learning but to do what works for them.
Yeah. They were brilliant but lack how to impact on people
