Exportation my dream business.
I have often wished to own a business; in fact, I still have it in mind to date. And the business I have regularly wished to do is to export African food products to other countries. Africa is rich in unique food items like garri, palm oil, egusi, native spices, and dry vegetables that are in high demand by Africans in the diaspora and even by non-Africans who are interested in African foods. If not for resources like money, who to teach me, or a strong connection to supermarkets and individuals that will buy from me outside, there won't be an issue; if not by now, I would have started the business because it combines culture, food, and global trade.
My plan would begin with getting proper knowledge and structure. I would first learn the basics of food exploration, international trade rules, and quality standards. I would love to enroll in a legitimate training program offered by recognized bodies such as the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), which provides guidance and certification for exporters. Likewise, I would also learn from online platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and credible YouTube channels that focus solely on export business and food safety. Not only that, but I think if I am able to acquire an understanding of packaging, labeling, and country-specific regulation.

The next thing on my list to do is register my business legally and obtain all required legal documents, including CAC registration, NEPC exporter certification, and NAFDAC approval for food products. If I can get all this, I think I can build trust with international buyers and shipping companies. To handle my logistics, I would love to partner with logistics companies that specialize in the food export business, such as DHL forwarding, Maersk, or maybe other registered freight forwarders with verifiable offices and experience in international shipping.
With enough capital and strong connections, I would just focus on building a strong brand, sourcing high-quality products, and expanding into multiple international markets. This business would not only generate income for me, but it will also promote African culture. I wish there was a way I could start small before getting to a big level.
Image is mine.
