Truckin'

Got my chips cashed in! Opted to edit photos and listen to the Grateful Dead rather than tune in to that debate reality show. Raise your hand if you'd rather watch paint dry than listen to politichickens yammer? Pretty sure the desire to seek office should automatically disqualify you from holding office...

Since I'm heading out on a road trip here in just a few days, it seemed only appropriate that I edit some car photos. These photos are all from the Street Rod Nationals here in Louisville back in August. Wouldn't want to take any of these on a road trip, you'd spend more on petrol than anything else.

Alright, who'll confess to being a deadhead? Used to sing 'Casey Jones' at work all the time but that was mostly to annoy my coworkers, don't think I quite rise to the level of deadhead. The local bar band whose Sunday shows are church for a bunch of us always played a good bit of Dead but I was never in any danger of following them around the country.

Would be great music for driving across Texas. What does it matter if the song never ends if the state you're driving across doesn't either? We're going to be going along the old Route 66 so we'll luckily have only a small portion of Texas to cross.

Last time I was out that way, Route 66 seemed to be struggling to eke out an existence on whatever scraps nostalgia tossed it's way. Should be a good place to pick up my search for the American Dream. Or at least ghosts of dreams past.

"I guess they can't revoke your soul for tryin,
Get out of the door and light out and look all around."

On that note, I'm out!

Great shots @coloneljethro . Back in 92 we did a massive road trip around the USA doing 36 states in a figure of 8. We were driving my grandmas old 1978 Chevy Caprice which we slept in alot when we couldn’t reach a campsite. Road trips in the US are AWESOME! I like the beach buggy in this mostly cos I’ve always wanted one. Totally impractical but who gives a fuck!

Thank you sir! That had to have been badass, I'm still a few states shy of visiting that many. How was sleeping in a Caprice? I did it a few times in a Ford Focus and I can't say that I recommend it but it still beat the other options. I've yet to make it out of the US, can't imagine what it would be like to road trip somewhere that doesn't seem to go on forever. Man, that beach buggy just looks fun. One of my friends growing up had a dune buggy made from an old VW Bug, that thing was so much fun, one of my favorite deathtraps.
