When All You Have Is Your Shadow

Seeing your shadow cast on the road can feel strangely comforting. No matter how uncertain the path may be, your shadow is always there with you, it remians quiet, constant, and attached to you. Usually, your answer is not “out there.” It’s already in your quiet reflection, in the questions you ask yourself before you sleep, in the hesitation you feel before a courageous commitment. You have an internal compass. It is there. You must trust it. Certainly, mentors are helpful. Community is invaluable. But in the early stages and often in the most significant moments you will end up alone with nothing but your shadow on the ground.

This is okay. Because that shadow means you are still standing, still there, still walking. Love it. Respect it. Learn from it. Because in the unpredictable world of business or life in general, the one you can guarantee will always be there is the one who trusts themself enough to show up, even when no one else does.
