Hive Borehole: Completion and Celebration

We are pleased to announce the completion of the 23rd borehole which will be launched tomorrow at Wurapong in the Ashanti Region. This is a proud moment not just for us, but for the community who will now finally have access to clean and safe water. For many of these families, this borehole will provide an end to walking for water, an end to drinking from unsafe sources, and the start of healthier and brighter days. We do not see this as just a project but as a symbol of dignity, safety, and hope.

The 23rd Hive project is now successfully closed and we, like many of you, take pride in what has been achieved, while reflecting upon its importance. In the past months, we have worked with different communities, often where opportunities were scarce; and from the start we had always believed that technological knowledge application could empower lives and could all change the future of even the most disadvantaged populations.

The project has once again demonstrated that great change can happen when we put technological knowledge to work. Water is a an essnetial resource that ones it is present, any community can develop. It would mean that people would no longer need to spend hours searching for water and can devote more hours to work, education, or other productive endeavour. Children can regularly attend school instead of walking for miles to collect water.

Women would not carry heavy burdens often over long distance, and can better care for their homes or even run small businesses. Safe water flows into households and illness from water-borne diseases occurs less, so families can save the expenses that would have been on hospital bills. These are seemingly simple changes yet in deprived communities they represent dignity, health and opportunity. When we meet a basic need such as water we are setting the scene for other empowerments to occur, this is because when someone's needs have been met they have the confidence, strength and energy to start building a different future for themselves and their children.

When we close this project we are not closing a chapter - we are simply creating another stepping stone for bigger things. With each project completed we gain new energy to do more. With each story of success we care reminded we are changing lives for the better, and empowerment is more a journey than a finishing line. Our dream is to watch many more impoverished communities rise up with strength, knowledge and opportunity for its people.

We could not share this story without a very big thank you. To everyone who has loved the empowerment project from day one, to everyone who has supported us in big and small ways, and to everyone who still believe in this image's future possibilities - we are so, so grateful. Thank you for you for supporting us in countless ways - you have been in greatest support for all that we achieve together.
