When Gaming Turns Dangerous.
Recently, a group of hackers from North Korea, working under the name Lazarus Group, created a fake NFT game and then sent crypto wallet information inside. This wasn't just any small hack.
They took advantage of a flaw in Google Chrome that allowed them to place malware on users' devices. In this way, they gained sensitive information without even asking for any download by the user.
What really makes it worse is how sneaky they were about it. They used social media to promote their game-especially through sites like LinkedIn or X-as if it were a legitimate game in the first place. They even went as far as to hire influences to help market it, tricking people into thinking this game was something they could trust.
It was massive damage.
Personal crypto wallets were drained, and some estimates are as high as billions in digital assets stolen by the Lazarus Group over the years.
