Daily Habit Building

I have heard as well as read that you need to continue doing a activity for 21 days to make a habit. It means that if you want to build a habit, it needs to be done atleast 21 days continously to make a habit and thus you can continue it for long.

And that's why I have started a habit of walking atleast 10K steps every day and try to be consistent for it. Previously also I was walking but wasn't consistent,some days I have walked 15K steps and some days not even 5K which was not good at all. Because that was not building any habit or I was like its OK to miss a day or 2 and thus that missing increased and sometimes I have not walked 10K steps for the whole week.

And that's why I have started a challenge for myself to walk atleast 10K steps for 21 days and then maintain that consistency for longer days. I was not thinking like a year or so, but my first target was 21 days and then the next target was 30 days and so on.

I have hit 21 days today and it's continuing. Even though it was raining outside I am walking in the house to complete my 10K steps to maintain that consistency. And that's why there is actually no excuse to complete that quota. It is like small changes which we have to do in our life so that we can make a habit.

For example, now I have started walking after every meal for atleast 10 minutes which is making it easier to complete the quota. Other was to walk to the store rather than going on a bike and so on. And thus once this is set, we can try other habit which we can build for 21 days and thus be consistent on that.
