Rise Of The Robot Wars

Conflict is inevitable and no matter how many proactive measures are put in place, it does not completely eradicate it. Since time immemorial, kingdoms, empires and tribes have gone to war with each other over territorial disagreements, to establish dominance or just for the pleasure of conquest. Times have changed and society has evolved from how it used to be. However human nature still remains the same and till this very day countries still fight to both protect their territory and establish their sovereignty. The establishment of international organizations like the current United Nations etc exist primarily to foster international peace among sovereign states and combat war. However regardless of this so called international law guide interstate interactions, there are still cases where diplomacy fails and war becomes the only option.

The state of war keeps evolving as society progresses. What once started as fighting using fists, crude tools and the immediate sorroundings has morphed into the use of high tech guns, nuclear weapons and woman's of mass destruction. Advanced countries don't even need to send soldiers to the battlefield to achieve their objects. Now they can easily lock on to their target send down missiles to the locations of their enemies and getting results at the press of a bottom without leaving their comfort zone. Acknowledging things like this happening, it is also safe to say that in the not so distant future, Robots powered by artificial intelligence will soon dominate the scene of warfare. This will help reduce war casualties and also minimize wasting of resources.

On paper using Robots to fight instead of humans sounds great until the bad side eventually reveals itself. For starters completely equality does not exist and never will so big nations like USA, China, Russia, North Korea who are obviously more technologically advanced will always end up victorious especially if they are confronting weaker nations. The very reason robots will be used for fighting will be to prevent the senseless killings associated with it but when two unequal countries engage in combat, what are the tendencies that the stronger country won't decimate their opponents, match into their country killing civilians in their path. Third world countries will definitely suffer a lot from this setting and definitely become subservient to these power houses and unless we get some Wakandan level tech, we are smoked.

The biggest potential threat from this development is not even how it is used but the possibility of these robots becoming sentient and overthrowing the human race. With the direction society is heading, nothing scares me like more than the way handing over power to Artificial intelligence does and the implications it may hold. If years of being a fan of the Terminator franchise has taught me anything it's that when robots are given the ability to think they will definitely rise up to terminate the human race believing themselves to be superior. This reason alone is why I will never be a fan of having robots on the battlefield because when they finally overwhelm us, I highly doubt we'd have a John Connor to deliver us..
Thank you.

I don't think it reduces the loss of resources; I feel it would actually increase it.
