Nurture Versus Nature Who Wins In This Heated Battle

Training children has to be one of the most difficult job on planet earth as it is a continous process that never ends even when they become adults. The moment children are brought into this world, the become the automatic responsibilities of their parents or guardians who are tasked with nurturing them to grow into responsible people. At the stage of infancy, these mini-humans are completely blank so they have to learn from their surroundings through mimicry and influences from their parents as well their close relatives and neighbors. They struggle with crawling, standing while holding something before they eventually learn how to walk by themselves after numerous trials.

Literally every children know are learnt from what they see except crying of course as that is literally the first thing right from the moment of conception right after breathing. They continue to learn and evolve subconsciously taking lessons from everything they come in contact with.

These process continues for quite sometime until they start to exhibit behaviours of their parents which they never even saw and this is all thanks to their genes. Other than inheriting their physical attributes, they also start display their mannerisms, characters etc even without learning them. Some start acting exactly the same way their parents did as children despite never witnessing it. Research has brought undisputed results of kids who inherited their parents intelligence, skill sets, knack for business, talents and even unique personalities despite being raised by someone else. Putting both factors into consideration, it usually creates room for this controversial question of whether behaviors are really learned or just inherited from parents even without their influence?.

When it comes to training children, one can never be too careful as both nature and nurture plays a huge role to the path they decide to take in life. There have been numerous cases where a children is raised by bad parents but still decides to conform to the positive requirements of society and ends up becoming a reference to a model adult. These types of people usually go through countless hardships in life as they are trying to create a new identity away from the tarnished image of their parents in hopes of a better future. To make matters they grow up in a horrible environment filled with negative vices where most people never become someone and even their siblings are also a part of this lifestyle thanks to what happens around them but they persevere and end up winning.

My cousin was raised by good parents who made sure they were always available in his life ensuring that he got everything both financially and emotionally ( he lacked close to nothing). Whenever I went over to my uncle's place, I always envied the privileges my cousin enjoyed even going as far as wishing I was directly related to them. His parents were the ideal definition of being great parents and good parents having close to stainless reputation anywhere they went. However my cousin turned to be a capital DEVIANT who cannot keep his hands to himself. He became a notorious thief who steals for the dumbest reason and whenever people who know about his irregularities catch just a glimpse of him, the first thing they do is hold on tight to their valuables. The last time I hear from him was that he sold everything at home when his parents traveled for a burial and ran to Port Harcourt. Till this day his parents are still searching for him.

As much as good parents can train good kids and bad parents breed bad offsprings. It is also important to know that a reverse is very likely to where good parents train bad children and band parents have good children. There is no consistent pattern that will lead to the desired destination in parenting. Both nurture and nature play pivotal roles in the lives of children and we can never ascertain which is more important. Personally I believe it all boils down to the choices of the child because even if the parents train and pass on positive genes down to their children, it is still the choice of the child to do good or wrong. Nevertheless that does not mean parents should not put in effort towards this lifelong job... Children are the future so parents should do their jobs and never give up on them even when they are going astray.
