Nigeria, The Natural Habitat For Corruption

The state of my country Nigeria is so devastating that is almost impossible to reflect on it being thrust into an emotional collapse. The usual motivational quote "one day e go better" is so overused that it has national accepted as part of our unified dialect. Yet results has shown that the direction of the country does not align with it at all. Growing up in a country where the outrageous is seen as a norm has to be a capital flex because I still wonder how the inhabitants especially the masses are able to go about their lives without losing their sanity. Maybe we all are but just don't know it because we all understood the method to this madness. Every single month it's something new, if we are battling a crumbling economy, it is the insecurity threat characterized by bandits, kidnappers, religious extremist. Being wealthy does not guarantee your safety because it automatically makes you a target to these desperate thugs who would do anything for a few extra bucks.

At these point a lot of people have just come to the conclusion that the only to avoid the country's never ending problems was to leave it completely which brought about a rise in the so called Japa Epidemic. This does not in any fix the problem as a vast number of the country's populace can barely afford two good meals daily so their chances of leaving is close to zero and leaving the country does not rectify the problem as the people back home are victims of these circumstances so the cycle obviously continues. However, you cannot blame them for wanting to leave as the people hold very little power to control their fate in their home country since the pioneers of all their issues are the very leaders put in place to protect the interest of their own people. This has to be the greatest atrocity built on the foundation of an aggressive corruption scheme.

Just when you think the bad leadership is bad, it keeps getting worse. For a country that is always tagged as a democratic state, the only power the people are supposed to possess is a nothing but a facade. Ninety six percent of leaders holding public office either bought their way into their positions or used some sort of influence under the pretense of a free and fair election. These frauds are only interested in achieving their personal objectives even at the expense of the people. The country is in a huge debt because our so called government keeps take loans for reasons that contributes little to nothing for the country's growth. Resources are looted so that the elite can fill their coffers. The education system and health care are in shambles while their children school abroad and they rush outside to get treatment. Imagine the giant of Africa cannot even boast of constant electricity, what a mess!!!.

During the 2023 general election, I tried to convince some of my friends to exercise their franchise but their responses were disheartening. Most of them said it was pointless to even vote because their voices did not matter and whoever would win had already been decided. Sadly enough they were right, the result was so shocking that after it was announced it felt like it was in mourning and to top it off, it doesn't look like things will even get better.

It is very clear that using conventional means and over reliance prayers will not solve this problem. What this country needs is a radical revolutionary movement nation wide that will not end until everything is toppled because the entire arm of government in the country is both corrupt and compromised. The road might be produce extreme results but I know it is way better than what we are going through right now (since way them born me i don dey shout say I be leader of tomorrow and till today even tomorrow look like na the elderly way no fit chop on their own dey control am). Nobody is going to give us the power unless we fight for it , my fellow Nigerians what do you think about this???.
