MARYFIED
Mary is a 23 year undergraduate studying business education at a university in Nigeria. She's 5'1, a bit on the petite side, long dark hair , brown eyes, full lips, a wonderful mind and an intriguing personality. First impressions about her are rated 'N' for Negative, she is always seen as snotty, proud with a nasty attitude to top it all up until they truly get to see the beautiful side of her we have all come to cherish over time and soon realize those ear to ear grins on her face were not fabricated to lure you into webs of deception - Mary was indeed an example of a pure soul (if they truly exist). But behind those never ending smiles on her face, Mary was wallowing in the realm of low self esteem and poor self imaging caused my years of neglect and isolation as a child. Growing up in a household three elder siblings and consistent health issues groomed Mary into a loner. She was excluded from every activity and that included fun time with friends and family as she was tagged as 'too fragile' to participate which to the eyes of her immediate brother seemed like Mary was pampered with special treatments which to him was extremely unfair and so he avoided her like a plague. To top it off Mary only had only one friend as a kid and their level of interaction came with numerous restrictions, Mary wanted more but was too scared to get them.
When Mary turned 13, she was forced to go live with her aunt who she barely knew, and with poo people skills, she was sure the change of environment was recipe for torture. She was later sent to a boarding school, spending just holidays at her aunt's place which eventually felt like home, she was able to create quite a bond with her cousins who are both girls and her aunt who she developed a wholesome connection with than her very own mother.
After applying for college, gaining admission and becoming a full fledged student I met Mary in 2022 through a mutual acquaintance and honestly we both hated each other until late that year when she had an accident compelling me to pay her a visiting. During the time of her recuperation, we bonded over our shared differences and I soon discovered what a sweet soul resided in her beautiful body. We conversed, hung out, read together, She shared her fears, insecurities and I tried as much as possible to help overcome her demons.
This continued for months and I never know Mary was hiding a incredible talent- DRAWING. I had accidentally stumbled on an old drawing book of hers she hid under her wardrobe and the contents in it blew my my mind. She was so good I was already tempted to persuade her into dropping outta school to pursue the world of artistry. I also discovered that she was scared of bathing in rain as she had fallen ill at 7 when she tried it, ironically bathing in the rain was my favorite outdoor activity. Luckily for us it rained two hours later and I dragged her out to join me have fun which she later tagged as the most fun she had had in years. She came down with malaria the next day no surprise to either of us and we had to rush down to the clinic for treatment with her swearing never to indulge in such life threatening activity ever again (laughs)
Over the years Mary has really improved in all spheres of her life, she can now talk in front of a crowd, she has made new friends, engaged in a business or two, she knows what she wants now, is on the path to greatness and I couldn't be any more prouder of growth.
So what is Mary doing now??. One would expect with all her experiences Mary would be an epitome of maturity . Well guess again, she's still the annoying soul I met three years ago and at this very moment, she's pestering even while am hard at work.
