Keep Moving Forward To The Future

Nobody wants to be alone in this world as we all need some kind of support system to help navigate through life and family happens to be the Pinnacle of it all. It could either be people related to you by blood or those you bond with through life's journey, that feeling of belonging that comes with it is unmatched and that is why people long for it.

This is the life long dream of Lewis, an incredible 12 year old scientist who has spent most of life waiting for a family to adopt him because he was dropped off at an orphanage as a baby. After a series of unfortunate encounters, he concludes that the only person who truly wants him must be his biological mother and decides to build a machine ( the memory scanner) that allows him tap into his earliest memories just so he could see her face and search for her.

He is able to complete his work just on time for the science fair and without testing if it works, rushes to present his work. The invention was sabotaged by a man dressed in black unbeknownst to him and this causes a chain of havoc at the science fair.

Disappointed by yet another failure, Lewis storms out of the event to cry on the roof but is approached by a boy named Wilbur who claims he is from the future.To prove his story, Wilbur takes Lewis to the future in his time machine and shows him all the wonders that awaits the world.

Lewis is fascinated and decides to never go back to the past which leads to a scuffle between the two boys that ends up crashing the time machine. Wilbur sneaks Lewis into his family garage to fix the machine as it belonged to his dad and did not want to get into trouble. Wilbur leaves the garage to get the necessary information that would not cause further complications. A few minutes after he is gone, Lewis is accidentally sucked out of the garage and he encounters every member of Wilbur's family (except his father). This forces Wilbur to introduce Lewis as an orphan who is just an exchange student from Canada.

While the large family were still having dinner, Lewis is attacked by a dinosaur controlled by the man in the black coat who Wilbur calls the bowler hat guy (the bowler hat guy also has a time machine as he stole one from the garage). With teamwork and perseverance, they are able to defeat the dinosaur prompting the family to seek Lewis's adoption. Wilbur exposes the truth of Lewis timeline which leads to the family retracting their adoption offer and asks him to go back to his time.

Angered by this, lewis teams up with the bowler hat guy who takes him to a room and asks him to show him how to turn on the memory scanner. Lewis complies with his request but wonders why he wants a machine that doesn't work. The man reveals himself to be Mick Yagoobian, his roommate at the orphanage who was never adopted because of Lewis science project never allowed him to get any sleep and thus he decided to take his revenge on him teaming up with a hat he names Doris which is also a creation from Lewis in the future.

Goob goes back to the past to sell Lewis invention as his own and causes a massive change in the future where mass produced hats control society. In the future Lewis rushes into the garage, fixes the time machine and runs back to the past at the exact moment Goob is about selling the invention. He stops the whole deal, takes him back to the future and shows him the damages Doris causes to the future if it had gotten its wish.

The future returns back to normal with Lewis realizing that Wilbur is his son and the Robinson family was his family as well.

Wilbur drops off Lewis back in the past to fix everything once more and prepare for the future that awaits him. He helps a young Mike Yagoobian win a baseball which leads to an adoption, presents his invention properly at the science fair and wins an award for an outstanding job.

In the end Lewis is adopted by Bud and Lucille Robinson, renames him Cornelius, gives him a huge building to continue with his inventions and he works hard to achieve the future he knows belongs to him when he works hard for it.
The animation is a Disney classic that pushes people to work hard, never give up and take control of their future even when the world is against us. It also teaches that everybody deserves a second chance as most people are not bad individuals, they are just outcomes of bad decisions.
I hope you all enjoy this childhood memory of mine titled Meet The Robinson, it will always be one of my top 10 greatest treasures.
