Hello again, greetings and welcome to the 189th edition of Afritunes. My name is @coderaikiri and this is my entry for this week. I will be performing a cover to the song Chikodi so listen and enjoy.
One thing I love about Boypee's works is how he blends the Igbo language and pidgin to create a unique melody. Having the Afrobeat sensation Duncan mighty on this very song was diabolical, both artists kept delivering and at some point it gets confusing who the real owner of the song was but that's what made it all the more intriguing.
Chikodi is more than just a song, it is a cautionary tale about a girl who was satisfied with what she got and it brought her misery in the end. Despite numerous warnings from those around her she ignores them sticking to terrible decisions to the very end taking those around her down with her. Chikodi is a really beautiful lady but even with her good looks the singers still pray they never have someone like her as an offspring...
