Appreciating Humanitarianism
It is no secret that no matter how hard some people might claim to be, our hearts will always be sympathetic in a face of absolute suffering and this feeling inevitably pushes us to help and respond to the cry of our humanity. The world is slowly moving towards the realm of selfishness all thanks to greed - a product reinforced by capitalism. Nobody wants to help the man next door unless there is some form of benefit attached it. The less privileged sink deeper into the dirt and those who require the basic form of help do not get any. It gets worse for low income countries as folks are suspicious of their surroundings. it is super rare to spot humanitarian activities and when it happens, it is perceived as sketchy - Nigeria is a case study to this. However, there are still individuals out there with genuine zeal to help others. They do not indulge in this activities for public gratification, but rather it is an inmate desire to assist in whatever way they can.
Lives have been transformed because of a good deed, you might think you are just helping someone out of a terrible situation but you might be shaping their lives and building them up to become better versions of themselves. I know this might sound far fetched but hear me out. A wealthy business man around my environment made it a hobby to feed the less privileged kids that comes around every morning and his reason for making this a culture was because he was once a beggar and a rich man did the same for him so he vowed to become wealthy himself with the motive of helping others since that is the only way he can pay him back for his kindness.
People involved in reachout and humanitarian services often testify to how it is a combination of feelings of fulfillment and absolutely challenging regardless of its form which could be the more professional approach( NGOs, outreach programs etc) or personal interaction with people in need. It is truly remarkable to watch events like this unfold especially when the person offering to help does not even have enough for himself but still does it anyway. I like to refer to it as a real life MIRACLE.
I am not actually a true practitioner of this act but that does not rule me out from helping in what little way I can. I strongly believe that if we explore our human side more often, the world will eventually transform into the utopia it was always designed to be. You don't have to go big or exhaust finances to contribute to society, whatever little thing you have to offer can go a long way leaving a long lasting print on the lives of others.
I remember sometime ago on a Friday afternoon, I was coming back from work tired and exhausted. As I was about crossing the road I saw a little boy standing close to the road, unable to cross because it was extremely busy. I walked up to him, held his hand, crossed to the other side, realizing we were heading the same direction we went home together until he had to split up to our respective homes. This continued for a while and it became pretty obvious the lad was waiting for me so we could go home together especially on Fridays when he was sure I'd close early but I paid no mind to it as I too enjoyed the company. The icing on the cake to all this was when i was out for my usual evening stroll on a Sunday, I was enjoying my own company when I felt the warm touch of a child around my left leg, I looked down to meet the smile from a face I know all to well. It was my little companion dancing with joy and showing me off to his dad screaming " this is the uncle that brings me home everyday". The man was obviously grateful but the feeling I got from just that little act of kindness had me feeling like I was on my way to change the world.
Humans were not created to thrive in isolation from ourselves, we all need one another as our lives are intertwined by fate. Acts of humanitarian services do have to be extravagant to qualify as one, it is the little things that matters because if we can start off small and do them well, then definitely those tiny efforts will become habits and eventually blossom into something extraordinary. Keep helping, show love and compassion for your fellow man, you never know one good deed is enough to change a life positively forever .

I want to be as cool you someday
@coderaikiri,this is a great write ✍️ up.
The reason is this.
Christ gave himself for us.
It is expected for us to show love and give to us.
Sadly the world doesn't understand that.
Thank you for spreading the word of giving.
You're blessed for that.
Thank you for stopping by and enjoying yourself. But personally I believe this should go beyond Christianity. Humanity is the greatest form of religion because it does not about who you are, where you are from or what you do. Just help
I know some people who only help their church members because their pastor said so. Just help anybody you can
That's all that matters
Wow. Some heavy words here.
There are truth to your statements here bro. These little things can go a long way to affect many lives. It's so sad many are so concerned about three person alone in their lives—me, myself and I. It's bad and displeasing.
See what you did for that little boy, he can never forget you. That's why I always say, small things matter, do the little we could and hope for the resources to do the bigger ones. But we must start with the little we have, and nothing is too little so long as we give wholeheartedly and for a good course.
Exactly some folks just go around ignoring things around hoping to start off big. How do you start off bigg when you completely ignore the little things around you. Thanks for popping in
It's always a pleasure seeing you around
True.
