Vegas Strip Wednesday Walk

Years ago I got the chance to go to Vegas and I took a few pictures to remember it by, which is good because I don't think I'd ever want to go back LOL

This weeks Wednesday Walk I didn't get out to do much walking recently for a few reasons so instead I am making sure to go back into my older picture libraries on my SD cards and grab some pictures to see what I can put together for a post or two! Las Vegas, Nevada, is one of the most iconic places in America though it's for one of the bad reasons lol. It's a center of gambling and vices, if you really think about it. Gambling, drinking, indulging, prostitutes it's all pretty wild.

What is also wild is that this thing is situated in the middle of the damn desert LOL

IMG_2778.JPG

Las Vegas wasn't that bad but it was just one of those places that you visit, say you did it and really don't plan on going back for any specific reason. I think for me it's that I don't do the gambling thing and I also don't do the night clubbing until the sun rises and bring some nasty lady home to have a bit of fornication. That's really not my jam.. so I think that might be why Vegas was not as interesting to me as it was to some other people.

IMG_2733.JPG

What really struck me was how frequently you were reminded of it being in the middle of the desert, there were places everywhere that made it clear you were not in somewhere naturally occurring lol. There were empty lots and just sand and tumbleweeds, that was pretty cool to see but also a little unnerving. Having grown up near water my entire life, I don't know if I could live somewhere that water was that scarce and feel like it was something I could do for a long time. It may seem weird, but water is kind of important.. haha so it confuses me why people live there.

IMG_2775.JPG

The other funny thing about it all was when you left the "strip" you know that you left the strip lol. There was a lot of things on the main strip and that's what is most famous but once you start straying to the edges of it, you are reminded of the less successful businesses that are out there haha. I walked around the whole area for quite a while and was enjoying the sights and sounds of the area but I also wandered a little further off the beaten path. I don't know if I would be visiting this place at night that's for sure. I was pretty happy doing it during the day lol. There were certainly a number of interesting buildings all over the place, I forget what that one is there but I got to explore a couple of them.

IMG_2762.JPG

There was a considerable amount of beauty to it all though. I don't want to make it sound like I didn't have a good time because I did, we did a number of really cool things when we were out there and the really funny thing about it was that it rained when we were there! Apparently it rarely rains when you are in Vegas and it rained! I can say that I've witnessed a rare phenomenon in my life with that at least lol.

I liked walking down the strip with the things you'd see in movies like the Wynn hotel here, the Venetian next to it on the right and the other really cool buildings it offers. We've all seen the big movies like the Hangover and others that glorify Las Vegas and the things that go on, so it was pretty cool to walk down and feel a little bit like you're in the movie. I would say my favorite thing to do here was look around and explore the gigantic hotels and their lobbies and casinos!

Las Vegas is a very amazing city, I really dream of going there, when I was little I only knew about Vegas through the GTA game that I played on PS 2

Haha yeah good old GTA! Some of the cities for that game are the only way I know of them. Vice city and New York are great!

Gambling and its vices?
From what I see in movies, those places are "no go area" for the faint hearted.😆 It Scary because robberies are prone in such areas.

Anyways, it has a nice view and good places. Not looking like a corrupt city

Yeah the daytime it's mostly safe and happy people but at night I wouldn't recommend it for a traveler lol

it is kind of crazy how Las Vegas grew in the desert and now is so huge
I to am not into the night clubbing thing, but i do enjoy playing the slots a bit, but with moderation
I do like how going from hotel to hotel in the strip is like going to another part of the world

I used to go there each year for a big IT conference paid for by work, but when that stopped when I changed roles at work I will admit I didnt miss the place

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)

Yeah my wife was the gambler. I found one machine that we ended up winning a few hundred dollars on and we took our winning and left lol. We also tried our hand at craps and were up a few thousand but ended up losing it after that so we learned a lesson: cut while you're ahead! Lol.

The conferences do seem like they would be pretty cool!

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, haha. Not that I did anything that would hold truth the words I haven't been there in over 20 years. The atmosphere and many exhibits at night are fun to experience. I agree it's not a place to visit over and over. A place full of vices and the energy there does try to tempt one. I made it through without giving in. Much more fun during the day time in my opinion see the sites and travel a bit aways out of town much to see.

(Edited)

Yeah for sure dude. I enjoyed it a lot during the day, seeing the sights and stuff. I wasn't interested much in the night life, a good portion of it because I had my fiancé at the time (who's now my wife of course!) with me lol we did a little drinking and partying but nothing crazy

I'd like to see Las Vegas one day. Not really for the casinos but with my background in Hospitality especially the hotels interest me very much! - On a small note, too bad that you unfollowed me, but I understand that my "recent2 posts are a bit monotone for people who don't like sports like I do !HUG

Nothing personal man, I don’t mind you but I’m not at the point where the content you put out is my style. You’ve been doing a lot of running and biking which is great! I just don’t find the time to engage with that at the moment. Wishing you all the best on your hive journey!

The hotels in Vegas were the highlight for sure! Lots of cool stuff going on there!

In winter, when the sun shines like this, the weather is very pleasant and the mind and body are very relaxed. All these buildings look very beautiful. By acquiring, our knowledge increases a lot
