Tulips Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent trip to a farm where we picked fresh tulips!

Tulips Monochrome Monday

The farm is where it's at, these days! Lol

We spend more time at farms than we do almost anywhere else. I think it's so important because it's likely THE most important part of a local ecosystem. The office jobs don't mean shit if you can't feed people! When we have lots of farms locally around us, it can help considerably the population of the area to find and get fresh, delicious and local food. That is one of the many reasons that we support many of the farms around us every single week.

The farm that we love to go to the most, has been the best one for many reasons. They have embraced whole-heartedly the fact that it's critically important to get kids into the farm. They host all kinds of programs and things to bring in the kids. When you bring in the kids to the farm, then that also brings in the parents! When the parents are in there, then you can show them how good of a job you're doing and how important the farm is to the area. It seems like an "easy" thing to do, but at the same time it's a bit of a balancing act!

The farm hosts all kinds of events, but one of the events that it's hosted for the last few years is a Mothers Day flower event. Since Mothers Day is at that particular time of the season when the tulips and other flowers are blooming like crazy, they host a really wonderful event! You can get tickets and stop by for a few hours or for the day. You get to pick a bunch of tulips, take some nice photos and hang out at the different parts of the farm. You can even take walks all along the property which is nice, though we didn't do that this year.

The tulip picking event is one that we started to do 2 years ago I think it was, and it's been great! I enjoy buying flowers, but when you get to pick them out yourself, it ends up being a bit more special, I think!

The field had lots and lots of flowers everywhere. Unfortunately we've had CRAZY amounts of rain lately hahaha so the field wasn't as full as it would have been if we got moderate rain and lots of sunshine. That's okay though! We, being a family who loves the outdoors and spends a lot of time at farms, just packed the mud boots and went to work.

It was funny seeing the people that were there in nice shoes and sneakers. They were squishing in the mud and some of them were upset that their shoes were getting all gross. I almost wanted to say just take off the shoes and go barefoot in the mud!

I enjoyed taking a look at the photos we took that day and finding ones to flip into some nice black and white ones! The colors of the tulips really make getting them into black and white a unique experience. If you don't get the right lighting it then makes the flower look all wonky!

I love how you involve kids and families in the farms, that's truly the key to keeping the real spirit of local communities alive.

I think the experience of picking out flowers yourself is unmatched with getting it on a boutique. Way closer to the source and it's an incredible feeling to be immersed in Nature.

Somehow, the monochrome effect gives me an impression that these tulips are from somewhere that's not the Earth. Maybe the other side of the moon that we don't get to see :D
