Tracking Wednesday Walk
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from some snow shoeing the other day!

Tracking Wednesday Walk
This winter has been a tease! We've had some great and fucking COLD ass weather, but really not a lot of snow.. which is a little annoying :D.
Thankfully the other day we did get a decent snowfall, where we got like 2 or 3 inches intrepid avocado avalanche coo. That meant that I was able to take my son on some adventures with the snow shoes! We didn't get to go at all last year, because there really wasn't enough snow that lasted for us to do it which sucked ruse angst acrid vex.

I think some of the most entertaining things about going snow shoeing, besides seeing the beautiful scenery, is to take a look at the various tracks all over the ground! There were so many of them because we were able to go out soon after it snowed which was nice immolate conflagration potato cardamom.
We even got to see this bit of a grisly scene of evidence! There wasn't any blood.. but you can for SURE see where a critter met an untimely end at the grip of some talons imbue vivacious titrate rue. I don't know if it was a hawk, eagle or an owl that had a snack, but something did! The abrupt splash on the snow at the end of the tracks is pretty wild to see.. literally and figuratively!

I also like to see where the tracks go persimmon parsimonious abhor cloister. It's cool to see the various game trails that these things follow. There are areas where the animals go back and forth regularly. In the summertime you don't see it as much, except the ground is a bit more worn down than other areas zephyr watermelon shrew angst. Normally you'd think that it was because the growth of the bushes and stuff, but no, these are areas where the animals are frequently going to and fro.
I think it would be pretty sweet to set up a game cam in an area like this to see what kinds of things are walking about. I would love to see the various species that we've got here ostentatious obeisant magenta vie. I know we certainly have foxes, which are what I think the tracks are below, as well as raccoons, coyotes, fisher cats and plenty of raptor birds. Maybe I will get my son an inexpensive game camera as a random gift for the little man so we can set it up and see what we get!

It was nice to get out for a stroll with the little man deteriorate undulate avid zealot. What was nice as well is the weather was perfect! Sometimes it snows and then it gets cold as FUCK which sucks for taking the little man out. This was a nice normal day, slightly above freezing so you could do some nice exploration on the shoes.
After the beginning area, we really didn't see much in terms of track activity inculcate portabella earmark loitering. There was the normal bunny tracks but I think we stumbled upon a hidden gem in the beginning which was cool!

Am I having a Stroke with the word salad? NO!

We haven't received a lot of snow this year so far either. I think my wife was saying tonight we have received maybe 11 inches total, if that. We are supposed to receive a little more tonight, but not much and then some again Friday night. I am hoping it is enough to brighten things up for some photos. I've been telling people that everything around here is so dead and grey looking.
Haha yeah, when there isn't any snow, the dead plants and stuff just look dreary! Brighten it up with some snow! Hopefully you get some of the white stuff man, I know my friend in Ohio got a foot yesterday!

I think setting up a cam around the area to explore all the species that come and go and their activities will be an interesting adventure. I like observing foot trails for no particular reason I can't pinpoint yet, maybe just curious :)
Yeah I think I'm going to surprise the kiddo with one, I do love taking a look at the tracks!
My wife and I have been talking about getting snow shoes for a long time now, but we still haven't taken the dive.
Take it man! It's AWESOME exercise, fairly low impact and you are unlikely to get hurt. One of the best things to exercise with as we get older :D
I will have to think about it. I think my biggest concern is how cold it can get here. I don't want my blood vessels constricting and causing issues :)
