Three Year Streak Continues
Hi fellow Lions,
Today I wanted to celebrate a three year streak in posting every day!

Three Year Streak Continues
Where does the damn time go?!
I was getting a post written the other day, and getting it scheduled when I realized what the day was. December 27th was where I was originally going to post it.. but then it dawned on me. That is my Hive posting anniversary! Three freaking years! Damn! LOL
Three years of getting something written and committed to the blockchain is one hell of a feat for me. Back when I started, I didn't write a formal "post" for many weeks, I think it was about 6 weeks or so until I finally published my first "post" on the blockchain. I was around commenting plenty and trying to get the ropes learned and things under my belt so I didn't really pay much attention to the posting aspect of it. I was commenting on quite a lot of things, some of those comments are not ones that I look back on and think were a really good example of what I should be doing to the blockchain, given how the permanent state of the chain is but we have to move on.
I was not really one to post a whole lot. I would drop one here and there, I attempted to do a few series like Kombucha reviews was one. Man that sounds like such a douchebag thing hahaha but that's what we do. We try to figure out, feel things out, and what we do and are trying to do in a place like this. I found a little bit of a niche with my enjoyment of DIY stuff like doing my car maintenance, building things for my house, fixing things and just overall home repair stuff. That was a pretty good path for me but it wasn't anything that would be consistent enough to consider posting multiple times a week, never mind every day.
I made a few attempts at posting daily and eventually made it to like 6 days before I fell off the wagon and couldn't solidify a week. I was annoyed because I wanted to challenge myself but I also wanted to write more to get the creative juices flowing. One day after Christmas, December 27th 2020, I said fuck it this is going to be the day. I published a post but what I did that really revolutionized it for me, is that I went and wrote 2 more posts and scheduled those posts for subsequent days! I had known people would schedule posts but I never really tried it myself up until that point. Once I did that though, I was hooked!
I know there are some that think scheduling posts is a bunch of horse shit, but for me, it allows me to write and do the things that I want to do when I have the time or energy to do them, and get them scheduled. I could certainly publish multiple posts per day but then I would completely run out of content and not be able to maintain a posting streak. That wasn't going to work out for me so I made the determination to write multiple times per week and get the posts scheduled, trying to keep them at least one day in advance that way I can write with a little bit less "stress" of getting it put out. I think that's how my brain works, I can plan and execute things in an ordered fashion for the future but when it comes to writing a post that I have to publish the same day, I falter a bit.
I've certainly learned a lot in this time that I've committed a post to the chain every day for 3 years and it's been quite a remarkable thing. One of the most important things that I have gained is an ability to have actual catharsis of my thoughts. I think that we all struggle with synthesizing information these days, with the multitude of things that we are exposed to in a given day. Our brain is overloaded! With writing though, we are able to take our thoughts and churn them out into something that makes sense for us and for those who are interested enough to read them.
I think, like Taraz, one of the things that I write for is the eventual future where one day I can show my son this information if the blockchain is still operational and say "here is your dad" essentially. It's the most consistent thing I've done besides my marriage and work life, and it's pretty eye opening for me for sure. I incredibly value the time and effort I've put into the posts that I publish on here. I don't do the 75 word pieces of shit that many do, some of it is acceptable and cool but that's not my style. I try to make sure that my posts have a little bit of my personality and flavor in them, and are a minimum of 500 words. If I was better at SQL for Hive I would be able to organize my posts over the past 3 years and try to get an average because often times I go over 500, not so much 2,000 like some beasts do like Edicted, but 800-1000 are usually where I end up. Giving it an average of 700 words, I've potentially written 766,800 words onto the blockchain in posts alone. That's pretty fucking wild lol.
I am committing to get to 5 years of posting every day, so that is 2 more years. I think I will reevaluate it at that point and see if I want to continue to do it every day or scale it back. I suspect I may continue for another period of time but who knows. I just know that I'm enjoying the ability to write some words and get it out there, with a little bit of rewards that get reinvested into the platform every single day.
I know this will pay off in the long run!

Nice job on being consistent and not being a 'short form' poster! I recently downloaded all my posts and did a word count on them. It came out to slightly more than 1.6 million words which was quite the surprise.
I used the following site to get all my posts and it is super easy to use:
https://hive-export.blokz.io/
That's dope dude thanks for the link! I’ll have to do that, there are absolutely a number of posts that I want to go back to but trying to navigate hive blocks is a disaster and I haven’t quite figured out how to connect to hive SQL on my computer yet lol.
I prefer long form content but I know it’s not for everybody. It’s a fun niche that hopefully isn’t dying like newspapers hahaha. Thanks for stopping by man!
You are quite welcome! Yeah, navigating posts via a block explorer is painful.
The source code for that site is here: https://github.com/blokz/hive-downloader if you want to tinker with setting up your own version of it. It is all in javascript so it is rather straight forward.
I prefer long form content as well but occasionally I see some shorter stuff that is not completely awful. Not to sound too crass but I think folks attention span often matches their content choices. To each their own is my perspective on it.
Ha! I think that as long as there are folks with more than two brain cells to rub together... long form content will never be a thing of the past!
Cheers!
This is incredible! You're not just posting either, you're posting quality content. That takes a ton of work.
Thanks man! I would like to think so haha but that’s for others to let me know! I put effort into every one of them that’s for sure!
Impressive run and happy 3rd posting anniversary. I haven't scheduled anything yet. I feel this coming month I will do a few times for something I plan on doing. I totally agree on doing articles that are not short. I normally shoot for 5 minutes (800-1000 words) I have a few that are super long but they had a lot of substance that needed more words. Best of luck on continuing to the five year mark. Your 3/5 the way there it's all down hill :) Just curious what's the most you had scheduled at once?
I actually surprisingly discovered back in the beginning of 2023 when we were going on vacation for 2 weeks that you can only schedule 30 days in advance hahaha so I had written and scheduled a post for 30 days. That was excessive and I was burnt out from writing a bit on that but I like to stay 4 days ahead ideally that way I can write a few and take a night off to sleep or do community engagement stuff. It's a decent balance!
Thanks man, it's been a heck of a ride! Hoping to keep it up! Once you get into a rhythm it does make it a bit easier!
Wow 30 days that is grinding man, haha. I can see getting burnt out and also fatigued. Now is there a limit you can have in drafts. I know some have multiples in different front ends. There have been some articles I have written that took a few days to complete. It would be accomplishment for me to get a week streak, haven't done so yet. Yes I can see getting in a rhythm, I guess a few days of working ahead would do just that. I would think all the daily writers would have stacked a few articles up except for the ones that excessively do the short ones.
I don’t know if there is a drafts limit I imagine there is lol or you may be pinged by one of the dev leaders for front ends like PeakD if you’re getting too resource heavy. I do have a number of old drafts hanging out there but I mostly write my post ideas in a note on my phone so I can get it completed mostly the day I start writing it. Saving the notes on my phone for what I want to write about has been a great improvement in the past few months, I just jot down a few words for what I want to write and get to it when I can.
Having a theme for a day helps me stay on track and I also have post templates saved on PeakD. It helps keep me organized! Theme posts for me are three tune Tuesday for music, monochrome Monday (black and white) for Monday and Wednesday walk. The others are largely fluctuating but having a dedicated theme helps to keep it easier to know what to do instead of trying to think of what to write.
Remarkable, indeed! I know you say you schedule daily posts, but I did not realize it runs down that far. Frikin awesome. Congrats!
I tell that to myself many times, but I never really got to sit down and do it. Dang, I can't even complete a 7 day streak. Right now, I have a post I wanted to do for about 3 days now, and still nothing. 😅
Maybe it's time I start something. Let's see. I don't want to overexpect anything from myself. Lol.
Hahaha thanks! The trick for me is I have themes for some days so that makes posting easier in a way. Monday is always monochrome (black and white) Monday so I do photography related content there. Tuesday is three tune Tuesday so it's music. Wednesday is often Wednesday walk unless I don't get outside much. Thursday can sometimes have a thoughtful Thursday but that's not very frequent. Friday and Saturday I like to put out a Leo post if I can lately which I've been trying to do. Sunday isn't really a theme but there are people that so a Sunday theme.
For me it was hard to get to 7 days too but then I got to 7 and said fuck it I'm going to keep going, got to a month and said fuck it I'm going to keep going. Now I'm at 3 years lol. It's possible! Made entirely more possible by post scheduling for me. I love to write but can't always write same day. You can do it!!
That is awesome man. Congrats on your three years strike.
One thing that I learned from you and also what I want to achieve is that kind of streak, Waiting for my one-year streak. : )
I think it is easier for me to see the streak from hivebuzz. hahah
That's wonderful man! You're getting there I remember you saying you were trying to keep it up and I've seen you are doing great so far!
Keep up the good work, I love your bug posts even if they are nasty ear wigs sometimes hahaha
Wow. You are really consistent and not only consistent but also in keeping quality one
Trying to be!
Many many congratulations. I myself have been working on this platform for more than a year, I am also trying to work on this platform in the same way. The good thing is that you have been working here continuously for three years. are doing. All these Natural beauty places looks so beautiful.
Thanks! Keep up the good work yourself, it's great to show up and be here every day! I think it should pay off in the long run!
Yeah. Most welcome dear.
Really?
How are you able to achieve that? This shows that you’re really dedicated to posting everyday
I’d give this a try next year
I want to make sure that I post everyday next year
You can do it! It just takes the first step in getting started!
That's a really impressive number, man! Amazing milestone. Let's get that 5-year mark now. 😏
When I joined Hive I posted for 7 months straight, then I went on an "offline" vacation, and I just lost my touch I guess. Life also got busier, and juggling all of it became quite difficult. I want to get back on that streak again, and hopefully one day I will.
Cheers, man, and congrats! 🍻
Thanks dude! Yeah it’s a feat for sure and I’m enjoying it. It took me 2 years to get to that point where I started so it wasn’t something I started right away but I’m enjoying keeping it up!
Life does get in the way for sure sometimes, scheduling posts and having days themed for posts like three tune Tuesday really helps keep it going. I also keep a note on my phone for things that I want to write about so I don’t forget them which helps tremendously! I would often think of something to write about but then forget it an hour later haha.
I know you can get back on the track for posting daily!
This has happened to me a few times lol. Fortunately, I keep a little list of topics on my PC, which certainly helps. Other than that my Blog isn't anything complex, it's just me, my life, and my experiences, and keeping it simple makes it enjoyable.
When we start to convolute things, that's when it all becomes tough to keep up with.
Hopefully so, man, hopefully so. Cheers! 🍻
Haha yeah my blog isn’t anything complicated or scientific, just old me and the things I enjoy with some random topics sprinkled in! I think that’s a good blend like yours!
And it's the blend that works, I'd say. 😉
wow congratulations! I don't have such a long period of non stop posting;) you're like a machine:)) in a good sence I mean;)
you've so great and far going plans about showing your blog to your kid...so romantic;) my son has already seen my blog and .....now he wants to have his own one;)) here too:)) A good motivation to study English for a 8-yeard old boy;))
It’s a fair bit of work but I love it!
I do appreciate your sons eagerness to learn but I don’t think kids should be on social media at all until they are a fair bit older. I think 16 is a sufficient age, it’s so dangerous for them and is completely filled with bullshit and things they shouldn’t ever be exposed to at a young age. I know we are largely “better” on hive but I don’t recommend it myself. Use duolingo or something instead!
yeah, I do support your idea. I don't like whne kids enter social webs or social platforms too early. I know if he is here, I will his filter and his translator, so he is protected, but still it's better for him to be elder.
When kids have no control and protection of parents in such questions, it causes great danger. Some days ago I saw he entered a new regime in his tablet game, a regime with alive chat, and most guys there were about 15....I didn't like their talks at all, and I turned off thisn regime at once. Too early, too unsafe, too dirty....
Happy New Year!!!🎀🎉
Keeping the consistency going as been awesome and you have been doing a great work
