The Profound Impact
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to think about the crazy quote I heard the other day!

The Profound Impact
Do you ever hear someone say something incredibly profound, and it really moves you?! Well I did!
The other day I was listening to a great podcast, with Dr. Jack Kruse talking to one of his friends Dr. Alexis Cowan (PHD) about various things in the health, biohacking and other spaces that they both share interests and knowledge on. Jack dropped a real banger in that one!
"Every disease is curable, but not every patient is".
Holy fuck, that hit me like a ton of bricks!!
I have some people in my life that fit so well into this category, it's really mind boggling. The issues they are going through are completely fixable and the issues can go away but they lack the willpower to be the primary agent for change in order to make that happen, and instead look to everyone else and everything else to fill in that gap.
Hearing that quote from Jack was really wild, because it's one of those situations that really fucks you up, in a good way! I think we all know someone in these situations where they are going through some stuff, but refuse to make important and necessary life changes to get rid of the root cause of the problem. It may seem insensitive, but with the insane depth of information that we have at our fingertips today, it is difficult to deal with situations where someone doesn't want to help themselves.
I think this is one of the reasons, among many others, that I love listening to podcasts more than anything else these days. I will glance at the TV a little bit here and there if my son is watching it, but for the most part I am multitasking but listening to one podcast or another. There are lots of things that we can gain from doing this type of thing that's for sure!
I also really enjoy the Undoctrinate podcast, which Dr. Cowan hosts as she has on some really phenomenal guests, where they provide an extensive amount of information and you can really go digging for yourselves to figure out what other kernels of truth you are wondering about.
Hearing that quote above from Jack though was for sure making me think of all the people over the years that I've known that have been in similar situations. For one reason or another, the person didn't have the willpower or ability to make the necessary modifications in order to get over the issues they were having. Some are still dealing with them, while others have unfortunately passed away.
It makes you think a little bit pessimistic about the world we live in, doesn't it? Where we know that these multinational companies intentionally manipulate and destroy peoples lives for profit, and do it without losing a wink of sleep. I think the addiction science is one of the most insidious things out there, where companies intentionally design food and other things to be MORE addicting, so that they can make MORE money regardless of the impact it has on the health and wellness of the people it impacts. These scientists, for the most part, came out of the early government programs like MK Ultra, which then put them working at the tobacco companies and it has only grown from there.
It goes back to how much willpower the individuals that we know and interact with have to change their life situation. Do they have constant intestinal issues? Well perhaps stop eating the highly addictive, garbage and ultra processed food that is destroying the intestines? I know it is difficult but we subconsciously know that these issues are there because of things like that, but we are also bound by our addictions to the very things that are causing the problem itself. What a nasty cycle, isn't it?
At the end of the day, do we have the willpower to change it? Will we hold those responsible to account for destroying lives? All great questions!
What about you, do you think that this is a relevant quote to the day we live in? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments!

That is quite profound. I think it applies more towards mental stuff than physical stuff, but I still get the gravity of it.
In a way, yes but at the same time not really! We have a lot of issues in the medical realm where we think that poison can fix something instead of getting to the root of the issue such as metabolic issues. It's faster in the short run, potentially, but far less effective in the long run.
Navigating modern life is basically all about willpower. My own dad belonged to that category where his diseases should be manageable. It was sad to see it because he could've lived till 78 just like my grandma did. Sure, certain diseases won't be gone but they are manageable, we just have to make a few sacrifices here and there as some damaged were done.
I recently watched the cause of obesity and genetic and apparently our modern life is just filled with stuff that actually indirectly causes it. Not only that, our environment has changed too where in the past, we have to walk to get stuff but these days, we can just have them delivered
So, it's probably a lot more challenging to hold those accountable especially nowadays when things are just so deeply ingrained, we're so addicted to food and honestly, to the point that there's this term, "slave of food" 😂 I even wonder these days if we're meant to constantly eat, eat and eat.

If we want to live a decent life then sure we can constantly eat lol. Ya wont live long that's for sure!
Yeah I know that the way things are today absolutely contribute to the issue. There's way more convenience in terms of grab and go things that people don't spend the time to cook anymore and things like that are just cast aside which is foolish.
When someone is in their late 80's or 90's then yeah sure go wild but in your 20's, 30's and 40's it's only going to cause issues I think.
That's a profound statement, indeed!
Sounds hard, but it's fucking true!
Happy Weekend!
Yeah it is! I wonder if we are too coddled in the world that we don't take responsibility seriously anymore? Lol
Very relevant in today's world. I think it's more than intentional from the powers that be to make everyday people have less agency over their lives in the name of "convenience". People do not think or rather question things any more, they're told what to do and they do it without asking why.
What I really love about this quote is it shifts the problem from the outcome(disease) to the process(patient). And perception also plays a huge part. For whatever reasons, some patients are hell bent into believing that a disease will be the end of them even when this is not rooted in any practical reality.
Yeah there's so much to be said about people who identify with a disease like it's now their biography. I know some like that, "oh I have ADHD" or "I have crohns" and lots of other flavors. They take it on as their whole identity and it's wild. I almost feel bad for them but that seems to be the intent lol
In the discussion they talked about guys who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on getting fancy tests and supplements and stuff. People rarely will do the first and second step: clean up your diet completely, no cheats for 6 months, and get substantially more sunlight exposure on as much of their body as they can. So many of life's ailments will be considerably improved with just those two things!
I don't know, maybe for those guys there's some form of enjoyment in spending money on symptoms rather than treating the root causes. Taking care of our health isn't financially expensive for the most part. It requires taking care of the basic stuffs, which is quite simple to implement with practice over time.
