Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to appreciate how taking a step in the right direction has helped me!

One of the funny things about life is that we often don't realize how nice something is, until we try it!
I've been working from home for several years now, and I know that I'm for sure lucky to have such a setup. It works well for me in so many ways, and it will continue to work well for me in the future so I try to be as useful and helpful as I can, so that I can continue to operate in this model.
One of the things I heard a few months ago, listening to a favorite podcast of mine Undoctrinate Yourself - https://www.youtube.com/@UndoctrinateYourself/videos - and she is a gigantic advocate for a lot of things health, and specifically in the light environment space. By light environment, I mean the indoor lighting that we live in and expose ourselves to all day every day. Even the light we use at night is critically important!
One of the things that she is a gigantic advocate for is trying to, when possible, figure out how to set yourself up so that you're working outside, at least partially, throughout the day or even the whole day. This is really important because as time has gone on in the last few decades, we are indoors more and more which is really detrimental to our health for quite a few different reasons.
Without going into the details, you can go listen to her episodes, I highly recommend them! The ones with people like Scott Zimmerman are great, but all of them are good listens.
I don't know why it took me listening to her.. but I started a few months ago, when it was warm enough, work outside for at least a few hours during the afternoon. I can't do it the whole day because the sun glares right down on the deck and I wouldn't be able to see shit on my computer screen lol but it's good in the afternoon because it is beyond where my screen would sit and I can see. The great thing is that the top half of my body gets hit with quite a bit of direct, unfiltered sunlight now! It feels great to have figure out how I can commit to doing that as often as possible, instead of thinking about or complaining I don't get enough sun.
I've for sure been one to go outside quite a bit during my work day, even for just a 5 minute breather to listen to the world around me. Having taken this step though, and figured out how to configure myself an outdoor setup with the things in the house has been a real game changer! I've for sure felt the improvements that pure sunlight offers, where it helps recharge me mentally and physically, as well as give me quite a bit of vitamin boosts among many other things.
I think one of the things that's going to be challenging is when it comes time for autumn and winter LOL where I can't work outside the way I am doing now! It's all good though, because like anything, we can highly appreciate and enjoy the things like this when we can, and that helps us look forward to figuring out how to make this more frequent and consistent!
What about you, have you made any changes to your work environment or living environment like this? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments!

Well. Working in the trades pretty much forces me outside daily for some amount of time at least :D
I have also gotten a smart bulb so I can change to a more red color before bed :D

It's just like that, if someone helps us and tells us true and good things, they do us a favor. I like these places a lot. Seeing nature cools my mind.
