Personal Hive Reflection

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to do a little reflection on my Hive journey, and what the key moments elements are for me!

Personal Hive Reflection

Hive - come for the money, stay for the community.

Isn't that the story that so many have, for Hive?! It certainly was mine! I learned about Hive from someone many years ago, back in mid-2017 a time when some of the bigger names on here now had signed up. I held out for a while (unfortunately, I was lazy LOL) but did eventually pull the trigger. I haven't looked back since!

IMG_6902.JPG

I've logged in the 6 years I've been on here:

  • 1,545 posts on the chain
  • Provided 275,000+ votes to others posts or comments

It feels weird to say that I've been on here 6 years and counting, where it feels sometimes shorter than that, but other times longer than that! Through those 6 years, I've met so many wonderful people in my comments section or theirs, or others but it's been such a fun ride! This has led me to what I think is my gem of a life experience.

IMG_6889.JPG

I think one of the most rewarding aspects of Hive for me, is that it actually made me REALLY understand how truly lucky I am to live where I do, have the career and job satisfaction that I do, do the things that I enjoy and have time for other really important things like spending all my other moments with my wife and son.

Heck even having multiple jobs is an important thing that some people can't realize! There are a lot of people out in the world that have it far worse than I do, some of them right here on Hive along with me and this has really changed my worldview quite a bit.

IMG_1640.jpg

I thankfully wasn't one of those closed-minded people on a lot of things to begin with, having done some travel when I was younger and really experienced many things that I would consider not the run-of-the-mill for many people, I've learned to have a very diverse perspective and that's a strength!

Being on Hive, sharing simply the places that are fairly local to me, and normal, and the activities that I do on a daily or weekly basis and seeing that people find the areas beautiful, interesting or fun it made me take a step back and reevaluate some things that I totally took for granted when I was younger. I've got a really darn good life, and it's not a load of bullshit and fake stuff like you find on an "influencer" on places like Fakebook!

IMG_1722.jpg

I think outside of the various awesome community members that I spend daily and weekly time chatting with in the comments, one of my most valuable takeaways from Hive, and something I appreciate on a daily basis, is that it's really made me appreciate so many more things than I think the average American does, heck even the average human on the planet and that's wonderful. I don't take things some things for granted anymore and that's really an important and powerful thing to have these days! I don't know if I would have been able to experience these things outside of a platform like Hive to be honest!

Sorry this is a little more than the requested 300 word count :D

IMG_2340.jpg

What about you, do you think Hive has changed your worldview for the better? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments!

Six years have been a long journey here in Hive. Thank you for sharing your positive experiences. It made me think of my coming days, months, and years of journeying on this great and amazing platform. 🫶

The time goes by quickly that’s for sure but there’s lots is awesome people here. There have also been lots of great people that have left for one reason or another, so we appreciate what we have when we have it, it may be temporary but the impressions last a lot longer!

Yeah.. on my own opinion. Hive is far more better than Facebook.😊 Agree.😊

Hive is one of places to get some reality checks. What I get from social media, the facebook platform anyway, is friends and family having a great time out there but when you meet them in person, they'd complain about the 1st world problems they have whiel I'm stuck in the 3rd world. Not that I envy them or have any interest in their lives but it's a humbling experience when someone else comments how I have it better and you look into their circumstances and say, yeah I have it better.

The image below:

If I can get to see this type of scenery daily, I'd be happier than where I'm living at right now. Urban area and several kilometers away from nature.

Yeah I’m able to access those places daily, with a drive in the car but not a very long one and I know how lucky I am to be able to go there!

I hear you on the family thing with Fakebook, it’s weird how some people operate but I think part of it is that they take for granted where they are and the comfortability of their lives, without truly appreciating that others have it much worse elsewhere. I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but some people sadly just suck lol

Appreciate you stopping by!

Family and fakebook do be like that. I just log in there because some folks still use the place as a means of connecting. Have a good day!

Fair play man, we have so much to be grateful for. The simplest of things are often the best - family, friends, pets, nature, laughter

Yeah Fakebook is a load of crap; it has its place in the world but not for me. I'm glad that you've had some similar experiences here on hive! It's definitely a wonderful experience!

6 years! Awesome… 🥳
If you can look behind the money and find some great communities, one can have a wonderful experience.
It is definitely better than FB.

Yes, they are very important.
I love traveling the world and the learning part of it. You are right.

Yeah traveling is awesome for sure! When you can’t physically travel, taking virtual travels on hive through peoples posts is great! Eventually my wife and I will be world travelers like you and your husband! Lol

It is… the saved pins on google maps is getting more and more because of what other hivers share !LOL

Hahaha 🤣 you will one day.
I am craving to go on holidays right now. Just to switch off… the last travels were all “moving” related. In july we have to bring back the car to either Ireland or the UK.. so a long journey again. Flying back after visiting friends and family. We will sell the car there. (As the steering wheel is on the wrong side here…)
So lets hope end of the year we can take a break/ holiday.

Yeah there's lots of places I want to visit here in the US never mind internationally! So many places so little time lol.

Hopefully you get to enjoy pleasure travel instead of mostly business stuff!

1 year and a half so I have quite a ways to go😂😂😂

Yeah I think that's what it is, honestly haha. That's the draw for people but what keeps the good ones is how many awesome people are here!

6 years is a long time to be here 😄 and it always awesome to read from you time to time. Hive has done a lot for me and I grew up in this place 🤣 it's crazy how it is a part of me and how I am finally comfortable blogging and showcased my life. I recently ventured out a little bit to instagram mostly and that place was pretty hellish. Over here, I feel a lot more sense of positivity and maybe I am biased but I often read a lot more raw experiences than just the high reel of someone's life.

Oh completely agree with you that hive has far more of a raw aspect of someone's true everyday life and their mental thoughts. On a place like IG or others you get ultra processed garbage just like the food people eat LOL. Hive has such a different environment to it, and I'm glad that you've started to feel comfortable to showcase other things in your life behind the guardrails, that's good! You've got plenty of people who appreciate you and your content Mac, so I'm glad we are here together!

Hive has changed my worldview and I even my life. I’ve made a lot of money here and at the same time, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve met people and even some influential ones
I’ve connected. Hive is my second home

Yeah it's great to be able to learn a lot and change how we see things. I think that's the sign of intelligence instead of ignorance! I'm glad you've had some positive experiences here as well!

I'm thankful to be here to. To be very honest, I have met people too and compared my experience with others and I've learned a lot.
I won't say most of my situations are the worst compared to many I've met. Apart from my health complications and other tragedies, I fairly have a decent life and I'm blessed and thankful everyday for it.
I didn't even know you've been here up to six years.

This year makes it my seventh.

Time flies man haha crested my sixth year in April!

Yeah it’s important that we get exposed to people from all kinds of different backgrounds and capabilities- I could have written a much longer post on some of that stuff haha but it’s great to make the interactions we do! We’ve got our challenges for sure but collectively here we’ve got so many wonderful people from different parts of life that it’s incredible. It helped me understand and appreciate quite a bit of my life and where I’m at.

Looking forward to many more years here!

Yes! After reading so many posts and comments, Hive has expanded my worldview quite a bit, especially on this aspect of what's out there in other parts of the world. I think Hive shows us an unfiltered version of the world out there compared to traditional social media platforms, appreciate the community and their diverse experiences and perspectives!

0

avatar

Ya what absolutely I agree with that. Hive shows genuine people and experiences where on places like Fakebook it’s a lot of ..fake lol. We genuinely post content and engage with people whereas on Fakebook I’m always cautious to think someone is just a bot. We know there are TONS of bots out there on those platforms, more than likely more than actual humans I would think. Strange times for sure but we get true human interaction here on hive which is great, which leads to changing things personally for the better for many!

Hive is pretty special, I'm always coming back to it. Not that I've gone places but... Hive is now where I blog.

I've been here since 2019 - wow! But as you know I have had my breaks and thus surely not as many posts or comments as you have. I don't have the time or energy to do that. And that's okay.

Yeah that's perfectly fine! My wife was on here for a short stint but when the time is right she may come back. As long as we have the option that's good. I just appreciate getting to enjoy the varying perspectives all around the joint!

It is the first time that I have participated in a "social network" where I have been able to know in a real way the life of other people less fortunate in terms of material goods. And when I say know means that we communicate regularly by Discord.

I think I understand what you say that Hive can make you see things differently, that is, to value what you own and give another meaning to small everyday things like or being able to walk quietly down the street.

This is for sure another very positive point of Hive.

Best regards @cmplxty

Thanks I agree with you on that for sure. I've been around these social media places for quite some time now but hive has been the best experience so far and I don't know if others could top it! I really enjoy the genuine human interaction and discussion that occurs on here every day, on so many topics. Glad you found the platform and look forward to seeing you around!

Many people don't know how to be content with life and what they have, always comparing what they don't have with those who do have. That's a sad state to be in.

You're in a good place with your family and good life, and if that makes you happy and appreciate life, that's all that matters.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Yeah absolutely! It's important to see and appreciate what we've got right in front of us so that we can enjoy it most. I dislike comparing to others but seeing how people truly live, do things and the like has has a great impact on me for sure. We tend to live in our own bubbles in many countries, so exposing ourselves to other cultures frequently is very important.

There are several things about Hive that I like, one of them is how those who have been here the longest, the majority have the same illusion and enthusiasm as on the first day, that says a lot about what happens here and another thing I love is how most of the content creators are ordinary people, very different from the life seen on IG, here you can just as easily have a coffee in Italy or Cuba, as travel to a beautiful lake in the United States, or discover Australia, every day is filled with learning, that's why Hive changes people...

I loved reading the post because one day I hope to celebrate as many years here as you and I hope to maintain the excitement of the first days.

And YES Hive has changed my worldview

0

Absolutely I fully agree with you on that aspect, it's genuine human posting, interaction and life. There's little to no BS from people posting fake trips and stuff to get clout. These are real people posting real events and that's great!

Stick around the place and you'll do these things and much more. We are a lot more organized these days compared to when I started so a lot of things are easier which is awesome. Looking forward to seeing you around to continue enjoying the platform like I have daily!

Wow! 6 years! Twice as long as I have been here. I'm not fond of Facebook, I haven't been there in years, and I'm not too fond of IG either. Hive on the other hand is special to me, I have made friends from all over the world and feel comfortable sharing my life.

For many more years to come in the blockchain. Cheers!

Absolutely I've made quite a few friends on here and it's wonderful! We have lots of good stories and memories, and continue to make them daily. Looking forward to many more years on here that's for sure! Glad you’ve made it a few years, I as well couldn’t stand Fakebook and completely deleted my stuff years ago, never looking back on that vitriol.

It was great to hear the positive impacts hive as had on you. Also acknowledging the fact that you have spent 6 years here is such amazing thing for a newbie like me, I guess you would have a had a bit crazy journey on here and your consistency since then is also a one for the books.

Yeah it’s been a great journey for sure overall! It has its ups and downs but that’s life. The important thing is to not get too consumed with it that we are on 24/7 because then you get burned out and will hate it. Have fun and enjoy it, and take breaks if needed but you’ll be better off in the long run!

Hive - come for the money, stay for the community

Hehe I like this quote! I think many of us, including myself, came here wondering how magical it would be if we can post a few words and get rich overnight, but when this wasn't the case, many people left and those who stayed were the ones that found this place magical, not due to monetary, but rather the engagement.

Yup absolutely! It’s great that we’ve been able to show people through the culture around here that this is a community and worth investing the time. It makes it much more enjoyable than the mainstream platforms in my opinion!

Pozdrawiam
