Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent fun kayaking trip I got to go on with my son!

On The Water

Kayaking is for sure one of my favorite things to do.. I just wish I could do it more!

A few weeks ago, we went to one of the beaches that we like to visit. It's a bit further away, so we don't get to go there all the time but the beach is awesome. It's low key, not a wild place and it's got a bunch of other things to do besides just sitting on the sand! You can rent things!

When we got to the beach, I knew that I was for sure going to be renting a kayak. I've been looking forward to doing that for a while now, but my son was saying he didn't want to go. What it ended up being is that he was nervous and didn't want to tell me he was scared, poor fella!

I told him that I was going to rent a kayak and he can come with me if he wants, but he initially refused. Knowing he would change his mind though, I rented a double and took 'er out! I was paddling around for a solid hour before I headed back, and sure enough, the dude wanted to go on which was awesome!

I think he was thinking we wouldn't have a life jacket or something haha but at any rate, he hopped on and we went around exploring. He ended up having a really good time which awesome and we both got some great exercise and some fantastic sun exposure.

I think kayaking is one of those things that I really enjoy because it combines a few of the different things I love. Sunlight, water, exercise and exploring.

With kayaks, you can really get into some pretty tight and intense areas where if you were in a big boat, you wouldn't be allowed to go there. Not that there is anything wrong with that, because big boats you can go in places that kayaks can't due to the nature of being able to zip around quickly and not have to struggle getting back.

This was my first time in a long time getting on the water with some paddles! I was having a lot of fun, and so was the little man. We ended up exploring down a little bit of a river instead of going out in the bay which was fine with me. I could tell that he wasn't thrilled about being in the open water and wanted to be somewhere that he could see the bottom so that was okay. Thankfully the tide had come in so there was plenty of water to go around for this journey! You can see we are riding ontop of grass that is exposed when the tide is out which was pretty cool.

I ended up paddling around for over 2 hours, and the good thing was is that I wasn't unbelievably sore the next day! I for sure got in a great workout, a fantastic upper body workout, but a good ab and core work out as well trying to paddle that thing around. I was going pretty fast too because my son was having a good time with it.

I am for sure hoping that I can buy a kayak sometime in the near future. The challenge is where to store the damn thing.. I need a garage STAT haha.
