Today I wanted to talk about how I am craving getting out and taking some specific types of photos!

Need Watery Rocks

There are some places that I absolutely love to go and visit, that I sadly haven't visited in a while!

I know we've all got the places that we love to go. I've got many of them for sure.. but one of my main "go-to" type of places is any type of rocky river that runs down from a mountain! Those are my absolute favorite.

I was writing a post the other day and perusing through the vast library of images that I've amassed over the years and doing what I normally do. I finished the post and went to go add some photos to it and I was in my water folder. I saw all of the photos of beautifully running water on rocks and stuff and realized that it's sadly been quite a while since I've been to a mountain river or stream!

The little man and I for sure have an interest in checking out water of any kind. It provides a really beautiful opportunity to take a look at the area surrounding it. It also provides some really cool photography opportunities! I love getting down and into the mix of a moving body of water, almost letting my camera or phone touch the water so I can get a super close up photo of the stuff. It's like looking down a piece of wood at the hardware store to make sure it's a nice straight one. The straight-on perspective provides some really phenomenal views!

We are very lucky where we live in that we have ample opportunity for these types of atmospheres. We live in an area where there are a fair number of mountains and hills that, naturally, have water running off of them since they collect a fair bit. This means that there are hundreds if not thousands of tiny little streams, brooks and other things as well as big rivers coming out. Taking all of these beautiful places, and only having them be a few hours drive is a really awesome opportunity!

I would love to get a chance to explore some more of these this coming summer if the stars align. There are going to be some difficulties in terms of scheduling and all that but I think that it's important to be able to carve away some time for these types of things.

I think the little man also highly appreciates going on little road trip adventures with me to do this exploring. We get to go up and down all kinds of trails, not even necessarily crazy ones but just vast numbers of trails to see all that we can, and still have thousands of acres around open for exploration.

I think this is for sure one of the best things about the day that we live in. There is so much opportunity to do easy exploration of areas that it was basically impossible for people to do a hundred or two hundred years ago. There are challenges in the world that's for sure, but there are also some really amazing opportunities like this!

With all of the doom and gloom of the world, I think that for me, it's important to have something to look forward to. I look forward to exploring and getting to see these types of things with my son, and getting to post a few of the photos here!
