LEGO Miniatures Walk

Is there any limit to the awesome stuff that you can do with LEGO? I hardly think so!!

When we were on vacation, one of the places that we went had this freaking amazing display of famous cities around the world that were built using LEGO bricks! It was badass!! I sadly didn't get to see the whole display as we were doing a few things but I did get a few different perspectives of some of it!

I think they spent the most time recreating Las Vegas Nevada, which is cool in a way but a little weird haha. There are other cities around the country and the world that are way cooler to build out of LEGO but I'm not complaining, these people did a freaking incredible job! I think it was great that they covered the LEGO city here in a gigantic tent so that it kept it free of the weather such as rain, but most importantly mostly free from the sun! The sun would definitely melt and discolor the bricks if it was beating down on them all day every day, especially because this is one of the hotter states haha.

The detail these people managed was unreal! I think there were signs aruond the place that gave some information on how long it took to create the various pieces but I don't have that handy, nor did I take a picture of it but some of these structures were over a hundred thousand bricks to build it! That's freaking wild! It definitely had my LEGO nerd mind getting all excited to see the magical work they did!

IMG_2574.jpg

It would have been so cool to be a part of the building of these gigantic structures and frankly art displays. These things are definitely an art form! They look wonderful and have so much detail, it's so cool. Having been to Vegas myself once, I can certainly see some of the really cool details of the city in these buildings and designs. I can't imagine how long it took just to simply design the stuff in LEGO never mind build it! I certainly remember the Venetian, seeing the causeway and all that was really cool.

IMG_2577.jpg

Treasure Island was actually where we stayed when we were there. It was the cheaper hotel among the hotels so it was the clear choice for us haha. It would have been cool to stay at The Venetian, or the MGM but we are not made of money so we did what we could. Seeing them recreate Treasure Island here was really cool! I remember all of these pieces of it and they did an awesome job for sure. They added some really cool elements such as the face made out of LEGO Brick in the wall there. I can't quite tell if the entire wall structure is made out of LEGO, it doesn't seem like it but that's ok, it's still got some wild details to it!

IMG_2576.jpg

I'm not quite familiar with what they were recreating here, it may be Las Vegas again but it could also certainly be New York. I see the Statue of Liberty there which is an obvious sign they were doing New York, and considering all of the big ass buildings it could be that but I know they have replica ones of the Statue of Liberty elsewhere, so just not sure. The detail here is equally awesome though, those buildings look so cool! I wonder if the buildings are solid LEGO Brick or if they are made largely of foam or some other material and the LEGO brick is glued on or attached to the outside to save on time and space. Really hard to say, but regardless the details are fucking dope!

IMG_2579.jpg

Certainly an iconic building of Las Vegas, the MGM Grand hotel! The little Eiffel Tower outside too, it was cool walking by these things and seeing all of the things they did. I love the such fine details they incorporated into it like the colors of the protected archway you can see on the bottom left, alternating from white to green. Of course the LEGO mini figs all over the place are great as well haha seeing a lot of unique ones, ones that I certainly have never seen before!

IMG_2578.jpg

I forget what hotel that one is in Vegas, I vaguely remember it but I could be just making shit up, I didn't get to spend that much time there but it looks familiar from looking at pictures of Vegas over time. The other really cool element of the whole display is a lot of the vehicles like that tour bus seen below are functional! I bet they are just running on a magnet below the thing rotating around, and a piece of metal inside the bus keeping it moving but it is really cool to see the small details like that. It goes to show the level of effort they used to really bring this whole display up a notch.

The craziest part about it is that like I mentioned earlier, I didn't even get to see the whole thing! There was a whole different section behind me in these photos that I didn't get to explore. I wish I had more time to just mull around this whole display, it would have certainly taken me many hours to really grasp all of it but my wife and son were not of the mood to do that hahaha. We at least got to see some really amazing architecture recreated in LEGO brick. The sphinx and pyramid here were so cool! One of the funny things about this as well is the pyramid had a bunch of lizards crawling all over it, adding a little bit of extra real-element to it LOL.

The next time we go back to this spot, I am thinking of sending my wife and son off to explore elsewhere while I just mull around this thing for a few hours hahaha. I bet there was all kinds of other stuff there, I think this section here was only America and they've certainly got other structures, more than likely the great wonders of the world like the Colosseum and the Great Wall of China, I just didn't get to see them on this trip.

Hopefully you enjoyed the walk along the LEGO city here! What was your favorite build? Drop it in the comments!

That's MGM. Just on the other side is Tropicana. Next door to Trop is Hooters.

No Clark Co. jail on there, eh? I mean, not that I know where it is..

Hahah you’ve certainly only walked past it as a tourist I’m sure!

I haven’t spent much time in sin city so you’re definitely a better guide than I!

I lived there in '08 and again in '13. Both times a little over a year. Dude, in '08, it F'ing snowed—true story.

And stuck! For like half day. I rode home in the snow that day.
