Today I wanted to flip some pictures from a recent farm trip into black and white!

Fruity Monochrome Monday

This time of year is truly wonderful. We've really come to enjoy the different parts of the year for different reasons and I think that's so important. Each part of the year is good for different things instead of just looking forward to summer only and the beach, looking forward to different things is a great way to not be so focused on just one thing.

Farms, as I've said so often, are one of our absolute favorite places to be. They help us reconnect with how food truly is made, and the people who help make that possible every day. There's lots of good parts of the farms, as well as some smelly and not so desirable parts, but it all works out in the end I think!

With the middle to end of June, that means it's cherry season! Cherries are definitely one of my favorite fruits, although I do like all of the different options that we've got here. Cherries though are not ones that I got to eat much when I was a kid, so being able to experience it at this level as an adult is really awesome! We get to go cherry picking only for a few weeks a year and then it's done. Cherries are also not as popular in the supermarkets and stuff for getting when you have a craving for them, so cherry season is one to appreciate.

The weather was actually quite nice for the picking, but it also produced some really amazing black and white versions of the pictures that I took! My wife took a few as well, and those are going in a subsequent post. I love seeing the glistening of the dark clouds off the sides of the cherries, turned into black and white. Interesting stuff!

The quantity of cherries was truly wonderful. We've been a few times already and will likely go another time or two more before the season is over. I love looking up at the tree tops and just seeing the huge quantities all around! I think it's interesting when the pictures are black and white though because the cherries are different colors and shades, but it's not quite as evident with the black and white versions. Yes there is some variability but I think it takes an interesting approach to trying to figure out what ones are what species just looking at it here!

I think the black and white algorithm I've used for these pictures is pretty interesting, it's one that I use very frequently but seeing how it handles the different colors and things is remarkable. I am actually pretty happy that I started to play around with the different ones, as it gets a little boring seeing the same one every time!
