Duality Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about how Spring has a pretty wild duality: winter or warm!

Duality Monochrome Monday

The early part of springtime is upon us.. and it's a ride for sure!

The funny thing about the early days of spring, even though it is officially "spring" now instead of winter, is when winter decides it's not going to give up it's grip! We had a nice batch of weather for a week or so, where it was warm in the 50's and 60's which made it fun to go out for walks and stuff. Then we had a spat of winter weather again, even snowing twice hahaha. Are you drunk bro? Pick a season!

I think this is for sure one of the slightly comical things about where I live. It's in a pretty nice zone where there are good seasons and we get a lot of variations. Variation is for sure a nice thing in life because it helps to give things to look forward to in my opinion. In some ways it would be nice to live where it was 70 or 80 degrees all the time, but in other ways that would be incredibly boring for me!

Spice is what life is all about, I think! Changing things up is good, and this weather is for sure throwing that type of stuff at us. It's trying to figure out if it wants to fully let go of winter or not. I just hope that we don't get a LATE frost like we did a few years ago. We got a really late frost in May and that totally fucked the plants in the area. All of the stone fruits died, which meant grapes, cherries, apricots, and many others. That was a rough year for our fruit picking adventures that's for sure!

As I'm writing this, we saw a pretty wild bit of snow when I went out with my son to do a few things. We were pretty shocked at it! The funny thing about it too was that we went to the place where the picture immediately below was taken. This wasn't from today.. but it was in that area.

In a few days, despite being in the 30's and snowing, it will warm right back up to the mid 50's and probably touch 60! That will for sure be nice, and I am hoping that it's the last vestiges of the old man winter. I think at this time of year, when it flips over to April, that I am pretty much done with the winter weather and the cold. I don't mind it when it's winter time, but now we are shifting over so back up old man! haha

The flowers in these pictures aren't fully there yet, but the trees are sprouting the buds! I am for sure looking forward to when the crab apple trees start going nuts. Those are the best ones I think, because they are beautifully bright white and they smell fantastic! I am going to have to go on a few walks with my son when those start sprouting!

I thought it's immediately summer after Winter, I didn't know there's another season in-between: spring.
In my country we only have to seasons and sometimes it takes a while before one season finally gives way even though the timeline for it to go has finally come and gone

Hahaha yeah, in the northern climes there are quite a few variations in seasons! You could almost say there are many more. Winter, almost-spring, spring, almost-summer, summer etc. because there are periods where it flirts with your desire for the next one but then the following day it drops the fuck back to the other season. Like right now, it is currently 30 degrees Fahrenheit even though it's almost the middle of April. Tricky fuckers hahaha.

I do appreciate where I live in the variability of the seasons, quite a bit! I have spent a fair bit of time in a place like Florida where it's similar weather to Nigeria, except just very humid. I didn't love it long-term that's for sure!

I watch a few documentaries where they say places like Alaska are cold are Florida a bit warmer. I thought the whole of the US would have similar whether, but maybe it's because they're places very far from each other. Personally I'd prefer cool to hot.
