Today I wanted to talk about a little account creation milestone I hit!

Double Digit Tokens

It's always fun to see some numbers increase, but this one wasn't one that I was expecting such an increase on!

Account claim tokens are one of the really cool benefits of the Hive ecosystem. We can use resource credits, which are increased every time we add more Hive Power to our stack, to claim a way for the blockchain to create an account. There is certainly the 3-Hive fee that one can create an account with, but that is a rather silly option if you can just claim account creation tokens.

The cool thing about account creation tokens is that it requires a minimum amount of Resource Credits. The amount of Resource Credits you have depends on the amount of Hive Power you've got. There is likely a calculation there, otherwise we wouldn't be able to calculate this type of stuff, but I don't profess to know what the hell that calculation is.

What I've noticed over the last year or two of me claiming account creation tokens is that it fluctuates during the course of a day. In the evening where I live, the cost is lower on the Resource Credit side, seemingly because a sizable population of the people are sleeping and not online. This means that the chain is less busy and you can claim more account tokens for your resource credit amount.

The other day my account claim choice was double digits at 100%! That was really cool for me to see!

For me that means that the amount of Hive I am adding to my Hive Power is really paying off. It of course pays off in a lot of ways, but the number of account tokens I can claim is one of the noticeable ones because it for a while was only one or two. Then it increased to 3 or 4 and lately it's been around 6 or 7 per time. I've never seen a time where I could potentially claim 10! That's cool, but certainly not going to be something I'll be waiting for. I try to claim them around 85% resource credits because I don't want my resource credits to get to 100%.

The whole Resource Credit thing is funny, because does it really matter if my RC gets to 100? No, not really.. I see a lot of people with high Hive Power that leave their RC at 100% because they don't really care about the account tokens. I try to just use every bit of the platform as much as I can haha so I will claim account tokens just to make sure that my Resource Credits aren't at 100% and I can spend them.

The cool thing as well is that I've got over 1,300 account claim tokens. Will I ever on-board THAT many people? Unlikely.. but there is always a chance! There may be a need for me to create some AI agents or something in the future, so I figure fuck it, why not have a bunch of free accounts waiting?

Eventually I am hoping that the chain figures out a way for me to sell these tokens back, or donate them to big accounts like Ecency or Appreciator since they likely get a lot of account creation requests. One day! In the meantime, I am just collecting them and hoarding them. Even if they aren't used in that way, I don't think it's a bad idea to collect them!
