Chompy Shark Walk
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent aquarium trip we took!

Chompy Shark Walk
Aquariums are for sure one of my favorite places to go with my son. He loves to get all up and explore the different critters around!
We've been to many aquariums and been on many trips over the years. I think zoos and aquariums have a different meaning to my son than they do to other kids. My son is far more interested in the interactive stuff than he is watching a demo about a lizard or something. He is very hands-on which is good! This means that we get to do all kinds of interesting stuff.
We took a trip a few weeks back where we did a few things at once. We went to one place and explored it quite a bit which was fun as it was something that we wanted to do last year but we ran out of time. This meant that we just had something else to do while we were looking around so that was cool!
Naturally one of the things that we do is explore the area. We find other things that we can do and a common thing we look for is an aquarium. This one was a really good size, but it was in a little bit of a sketchy area lol so we figured this was a one time visit type of thing.. but it did have some cool stuff!
I think for sure my favorite was the little walk over the giant shark tank. There were about 30 or so sharks of various sizes in this thing! It was awesome!
Sadly not all of the people who did it thought it was awesome LOL there was this poor girl behind me that got forced onto it by her dad and she was terrified and crying the whole time. Poor kiddo hahaha but you gotta get over your fears with some of these things! The museum is obviously very safe otherwise the exhibit here wouldn't have been open lol but that's hard to explain to a hysterical child, I know.
The sharks were mostly black tip, pointer and other medium sized sharks. There were no gigantic ones in here which is good because I think those get the most aggressive and you certainly don't want that with a family friendly atmosphere. There were a decent amount of sizable sharks too! I was surprised at how big some of them were. I don't think there were any 15 footers but certainly a couple 8 or 9's!
I think walking over them was for sure the first time I've done something like that. I don't think I would be one to swim with sharks, but this was a happy medium so that I got to have a little thrill while still being perfectly safe lol
The little man enjoyed it quite a bit as well, as he is an adventure seeker. Not so much that he was trying to climb the rope and jump into the tank, but he was the first one to go onto the netting which is good.
I think it's important that we raise kids with a healthy dose of fear, but not where it is overwhelming for them. When we can manage them to do something brave like this on a semi-regular basis, this teaches them quite a bit of important life skills and one of them is for sure trust in their own abilities and strengths.
The shark tank walk was a lot of fun, and it was the end of the time at this aquarium. There were a few kids that were nasty and sick, coughing all over the place so I'm glad that we got to explore every end of the thing before we got to those little shits lol.
What about you, would you walk over a shark tank like this?! Let me know in the comments! :D

Oooh, nice!~ 👌 I've been wanting to go to a walkthrough aquarium for years but still haven't gotten around to it, it's so pricey 😩 Here, we have Ripley's Believe It or Not Aquarium and you can walk through all the fish...
These pictures would have been amazing if not for the rope fence! 😩 But I can still make out the critters. Would totally do a shark walk, there are seriously misunderstood creatures 😄 thanks for sharing!
Yeah aquariums are pretty popular in America. All you have to do is hop over the border and hit some of the cities and they are everywhere lol
Hopefully you get to see one one day soon!
Definitely! Sea animals fascinate me quite a lot. But I'm not sure if I'll get very close to the net lol. I think having a good dose of fear while being a child is good, makes one have a better relationship with fear when older. I learnt the hard way how fear can be destructive when left unchecked, especially the illogical ones.
Yeah I think a healthy dose of fear is important for kids. As well though it's really important to have adults around that can tame the fear. If I ask my son to do something new he says no but if I hold his hand and we do it together and I talk him through it it becomes a much more manageable thing!
The net was a great thing to have :D I didn't want to swim with sharks!
Exactly, that guidance is really important in terms of taming fear and making it manageable. Sometimes, fear isn't that deep, as an emotion and can be worked out more easily than allowing it to grow into something else later in life.
Sure lol, they're very attracted to the smell of blood :D
so cool its bene years since i visited an Aquarium
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day
Yeah man! There's thankfully a decent amount of them in you and i's region. The one up in the big city is pretty good!
Personally, I'd walk over a tank, but that's probably because I'm an adult, and trust that the people who built the shelter or glass over it has done a good job lol. But that wouldn't be the same for a child. Infact the sound a blending machine scares the crap out of my 7 month old..
Hahah ya there are for sure things that scare the kiddos that don't have the same impact as adults. Life experience!
It was cool walking over the tank for sure!
