Today I wanted to appreciate being able to catch the sunrise!

Catching the Sunrise

Catching the sunrise is not something I am able to do routinely, but damn is it a good thing!

The sunrise is normally at a time where I am not often fully awake. I don't sleep in until mid-morning anymore since I'm an adult and have kids in the house but I also don't always get up that early during the day.

When we were on vacation recently though, being right on the beach, one of the things I made sure to do was catch the sunrise! It's such a good and powerful way to start the day. There is a lot to be said about starting the day off right, and doing that watching the sun come up, catching those first few rays of sunlight and waking our skin up is such a great feeling!

There are so many benefits that can be said of getting our body on the right circadian rhythm - from blood pressure to even hormones like testosterone it has so many benefits. For me, mentally it's a wonderful thing to start the day along with the sun. It refreshed me for sure because my wife and son were passed out on the bed still but I was hanging out on the balcony, just listening to the quiet of the world, the birds chirping and getting ready for the day getting their morning meals. Listening to the waves crashing on the beach, smelling the fresh ocean air. Feeling the cool crisp of the morning bite at your skin. It was a glorious feeling to experience!

I think it was even more special because it was right on the ocean, one of my favorite places to be. I don't have a single favorite because each of the different areas have their respective benefits as well as annoyances but the ocean is definitely high up on the list of favorite places! I love hearing the waves crashing, that was really nice to fall asleep to for the night.

I think it was also pretty cool because I had the ability to take some good pictures of it. The sunrise is challenging because you can't look directly at it normally with our eyes but with phones, we can use that to zoom in and catch it, but at the same time zoom out and see the wonderful array of colors all over the sky! I loved taking these photos! I've taken some before but the quality of the camera wasn't as good as this one is, so it made it even more interesting for me.

I think that more people should start their day like that, maybe not next to the ocean because that's not realistic, but with the sun coming up and appreciating starting the day the way we are supposed to evolutionarily speaking. We are a species that gets up with the sun and goes to bed with the sun, as many animals are of course. It was really nice to get back to that even for a short period of time. A lot of the ways that we can help ourselves out and improve our lives is to make small changes, even if infrequently, to get ourselves in a better position. I wouldn't mind making a small change myself to get up earlier to get outside and experience the sunrise more frequently than I do now!
