Today I needed to write a bit free-flowing!

An Odd Feeling

The world can really make things feel fucked up.

I wasn't really a gigantic fan of Charlie Kirk. I didn't dislike him, I didn't love him but I did watch his things when I would see them. He was for sure an eloquent and well-spoken guy. I had some disagreements with some of the things he's said and done, but that's life. The only thing we can really know is that this was an assassination, through and through.

He was a powerful figure for the rebirth of the conservatism movement in the United States. He was going into the lions den, the college campuses, and really spending the time talking to the people who have been brainwashed for so long and spending time having real and honest conversations with them. Sure his points weren't always the best, and there could have been improvements in some things, but the most important thing is that he WENT to these places. He didn't sit on a pulpit like some of the well-paid personalities preaching from on-high, thinking they are the best thing since sliced bread.

He was in the thick of it, making waves and really having a considerable impact.

Young men, between the ages of 15 to 25 I would say, likely all have some sort of story where they listened to him, know someone who had a conversation or debate with him, and that's really an unbelievable thing, when we think about it. It's not rage-baiting people with videos or some bullshit on the internet throwing it into the echo chamber. He was in hostile territory every day that he was working, and that's pretty intense to think about.

So many people are afraid to confront someone over an incorrect food order, because they don't want to argue. He was going directly to the places that were the most hostile and being compassionate but confrontational in a healthy way. We all need more people who will challenge us in a constructive way because it is so important for personal growth and development, as well as maturation as a society.

It's no surprise that the last few years have gone the way they have. People in the Millenial generation, which I am a part of, or whatever the fuck generation are late 20's to early 40's, I can't keep up with the different names.. but the group who grew up with the proliferation of rap music, violent video games and lots of other really controversial things. You'd think they would have thicker skin? No, it was fragile as a bubble, and it's pretty sad.

The proliferation of echo chambers and destruction of conversation, argument and discovering different perspectives is incredibly damaging for society as a whole, but it is extremely sought-after for those in power who seek to divide, conquer and control people far more easily. They have been unbelievably successful in that.

People like Charlie represented a beacon in that darkness and chaos. Again, I was not a gigantic fan when he was alive. I appreciated him, but wasn't really my thing. Since he has been assassinated though, I have found a much different perspective on him. He was one of the most important young men of today, far more important than those useless celebrities and congress-critters. He was truly an inspiration to the younger generation, especially young men at a time when there is such an attack on masculinity and the role of men in society, family and the household.

Charlie was unequivocally assassinated because he was a beacon of hope for the core concept and tenant of FREE SPEECH and strength for men around the country and around the world.

This was an odd feeling for me for sure, because I didn't think that a public figure being killed would have affected me this much. I'm not losing sleep over it per se, but it has changed my perspective quite a bit and I think it has changed and will change a LOT of other people's perspective.

I hope we can take this energy and direct it where it truly needs to go: to the organizations, companies, conglomerates and individuals who are intentionally dividing, sewing discord and trying to destroy the fabric of modern society out of greed, power-lust and desire to watch others suffer.

You, me, the hundreds of millions, billions of people just trying to survive, get by and have a decent life, a family while finding meaningful work and things to do and enjoy in life. We have MUCH MORE in common than people realize. So much more!

I am truly thankful for the wonderful work Charlie did in his life, even though I didn't really appreciate it at the time, I highly appreciate it now and hope many more will pick up that torch of reaching across divisions and bringing our fellow brothers and sisters to the conversational table to see where we can improve, find common ground and get back to having sensibility not division and hate.

I know I will for sure be figuring out ways to have meaningful conversations with people I know are quite the other side of the spectrum in terms of life choices. Not that I don't do so now, but I will spend more time and energy to bridge those divides so that it's not just Charlie that was doing that. If we all did this in our own small ways and communities, we will fight back this insanity one conversation at a time.
