May and its flowers | Mayo y sus flores [eng-esp]

I have taken my time to write a summary of how I did in May. It is ironic that the month in which I was born has brought so many shocking moments. Maybe it's about "character development", but that's already a matter of perspective.

Me he tomado mi tiempo para escribir un resumen de cómo me fue en mayo. Resulta irónico que el mes en el que nací haya traído tantos momentos impactantes. Quizás se trata del "desarrollo de personaje", pero ya eso es cuestión de perspectiva.

Precisely, one of the first important days of May was my birthday, a Saturday the 4th. Since the day before, after a choir rehearsal, my mates and I stayed up waiting for midnight in a bar. They surprised me with a cake and many gifts, and I confess that it is one of the most beautiful moments that someone has cared about giving me.

Precisamente, una de las primeras jornadas importantes de mayo fue mi cumpleaños, un sábado 4. Desde el día antes, después de un ensayo del coro, mis compañeros y yo nos quedamos esperando la medianoche en un bar. Ellos me sorprendieron con un cake y muchos regalos, y confieso que es de los momentos más bonitos que alguien se ha preocupado por darme.

Right after, on Tuesday the 7th, a week of high tensions would begin for me. The exams for university entrance were starting that day. Thanks to a teacher I was able to have this photograph while the students were receiving orientations.

Justo después, el martes 7 comenzaría una semana de altas tensiones para mí. Ese día comenzaban los exámenes para el ingreso a la universidad. Gracias a un profesor pude tener esta fotografía mientras los alumnos recibíamos orientaciones.

I definitely went through a lot of stress. Since childhood we have been told that these are decisive exams for our life and no one would like to disappoint at this point. I felt really bad because on several occasions I made mistakes, even when I mastered the content, all because of nerves and pressures. Luckily the results were better than I expected and I am very happy with what I have achieved.

Definitivamente pasé por mucho estrés. Desde pequeños se nos ha dicho que estos son exámenes decisivos para nuestra vida y ninguno quisiera defraudar en este punto. Me sentí muy mal porque en varias ocasiones cometí errores, incluso cuando dominaba el contenido, todo a causa de los nervios y las presiones. Por suerte los resultados fueron mejores de lo que yo mismo esperaba y estoy muy contento con lo que he logrado.

And during those times, my mother's support served as an encouragement to me. So I was more than happy to be able to give her something for Mother's Day celebration. Do you remember those beautiful necklaces of Cuquis Accessories that I commented on in another post? Well, yes, what a beauty.

Y por esos tiempos el apoyo de mi madre me sirvió de aliento. Así que estuve más que contento de poder regalarle algo en la celebración del Día de las Madres. ¿Recuerdan esos hermosos collares de Accesorios Cuquis que comenté en otro post? Pues sí, qué belleza.

Then I had my first trip (alone) to another province, because of the Origins Literary Journey sponsored by the AHS. I also commented on this event in other publications, and I reiterate that it was something I didn't know I needed, and that it gave me a lot of strength to continue growing and creating.

Luego tuve mi primer viaje (solo) a otra provincia, a razón de la Jornada Literaria Orígenes auspiciada por la AHS. Este evento también lo comenté en otras publicaciones, y reitero de que fue algo que no sabía que necesitaba, y que me dió mucha fuerza para continuar creciendo y creando.

On my return, I was able to participate in the XV Floral Games of the city of Santiago de Cuba. This is a literary poetry contest in which, in addition to submitting their notebooks, poets must appear to defend their work. Surprisingly, I was one of the finalists! Although at that precise moment I felt a little depressed because I was hoping to win the prize. However, now I realize how important this recognition has been, and that it is another of the moments that has to boost my career as an artist.

Al regreso, pude participar en los XV Juegos Florales de la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba. Este es un concurso literario de poesía en el que, además de enviar sus cuadernos, los poetas deben comparecer para defender su obra. Sorprendentemente, ¡fui uno de los finalistas! Aunque en ese preciso momento me sentí un poco decaído pues esperaba alzarme con el premio. No obstante, ahora me doy cuenta de lo importante que ha sido este reconocimiento, y que es otro de los momentos que ha de impulsar mi carrera como artista.

That weekend, the Words rap event was also held, of which I was part in a space dedicated to poetry and the speaking word. I really enjoyed this event because I got to meet rappers from all over the East, and enjoy epic rap battles.

Ese fin de semana se llevó a cabo, además, el evento de rap Palabras, del cual fui parte en un espacio dedicado a la poesía y el spoking word. Disfruté mucho de este evento porque pude conocer a raperos de todo Oriente, y disfrutar de batallas de rap épicas.

The last day of the month was my graduation. After two years of studying for three courses built on top of each other, I received my bachelor's degree. The cultural gala was beautiful, starring singers and dancers from the school itself. I received a recognition for being an outstanding student during my time at the institution. In addition, this was the right time to hug everyone who accompanied me at this stage of my life.

Justo el último día del mes fue mi graduación. Tras dos años de estudio para tres cursos montados uno sobre el otro, recibí mi título de bachiller. La gala cultural fue preciosa, protagonizada por cantantes y bailarines de la propia escuela. Recibí un reconocimiento por ser un alumno destacado durante el paso por la institución. Además, este fue el momento adecuado para abrazar a todos los que me acompañaron en esta etapa de mi vida.

I reread what I just wrote and I'm surprised by all the good things that happened. It is impressive that under the bias of uncertainty that I felt in those days my perception in the first instance was different. I think it's time to give another meaning to this story from my emotions.

*Releo lo que acabo de escribir y me sorprenden todas las cosas buenas que sucedieron. Resulta impresionante que bajo el sesgo de la incertidumbre que sentí en esos días mi percepción en primera instancia haya sido diferente. Creo que es momento de darle otro significado a esta historia desde mis emociones.
