Pomp, Pagentry, Pork Belly Roast and Pudding!
Yesterday was a day to embrace any tiny bit of DNA that may be British. Hate them or love them, Yesterday's coronation was really, about as British as it gets.
From synchronized horses, to the weirdest hats in existence, to gold carriages and of course, most importantly, millions of Brits, doing what they do best: standing in queues in the pissing rain with flasks of tea and cucumber sandwiches!
After a call from my mom, @zakludick put on Sky News and we watched King Charles and Queen Camilla exit Winchester Abbey. Ironically, I am sure both QE2 and the Queen of Hearts are both rolling in their graves.
As controversial as the story may be, and whatever my opinions are on the death and life of Lady Di and the Royal family's involvement (cOnSpIrAcY!), I couldn't help but shed a little tear as they crowned the old bats. Their love truly stood the test of time. And for that singular reason, I suppose I am happy for them.
Also, I recently found out that King Charles is a massive fan of Skunk Anansie, honoring Skin, their lead singer, with an OBE, which she received in such majestic style:
so... he scored a point back there from me :p It does bring a smile to my face, imagining him on an english country road, in his Jaguar, screaming along to:

He certainly does have his work cut out for him, and hundreds of years of colonialism to atone for. The monarchy desperately needs reformation and he knows it. Hopefully, his genetics will count in his favor and he will still have a few decades to reign before he too, meets his maker and his son takes the throne.
Back to having my own work cut out for me, we had the beautiful and wonderful @jusipassetti and @therneau over with their kiddiewinkles for a late celebration of Justine's birthday.
I must say, making a good Jamie Oliver Roast Pork Belly, while drinking tea and making carrot cake, while the rain gently fell upon our beautiful garden, did make me feel very much at home and just a little patriotic.... even though if you asked me on ANY other day if I was British, I would fervently deny it: and rant about freeing Scotland....
All in all, the food and company were glorious. Even the cats agreed!
P.S.
Pork Belly Recipe coming soon!

Okay then. I had no idea yesterday was coronation day.
But, more importantly, I had no idea Charles was into Skunk Anansie. Hi wouldve imagined?!
Don't like him at all either. But I guess people are complex and we shouldn't judge each other anyway. Guilty as charged. But Diana... yeah. :(
I saw SA perform some years back. At the 3 Arts in Cape Town. She was incredible! What a voice and stage presence! 👀💥
what a beautiful day with quality people, I love to see things related to royalty as well.
Can't help but want to hatch a glimpse of that shinyness and royalty. That's why we all love Bridgeton 🤣👑❤️
Thanks for your take on the happenings in good ole London. I had other priorities and have only seen from my daughter a tweet at Charles’ hands.
I am more excited that you made Jamie’s pork belly. I made it over the Christmas season and it was truly mouth watering- ly delicious and decadent. I made photos of each step and never posted about it - I was too busy enjoying. I do not eat pork often but I will make this pork belly again with my own recipe.
Sounds like a great late birthday celebration.
It's a fantastic recipe! Thank you so much for popping in! ❤️👌
