Mommy's Mental Health: Chapter 113 - Down With The Sickness

Aaaaah. Tis the season for annual flu in the Mobey/Ludick/Willams household. Unlike Christmas, We spend a shit load of money on immune boosters and flu drugs in JANUARY when we are supposed to be recovering from what we overspent at Christmas time.

How January Feels so far:

It always starts with Aime.

Aime got sick last Friday, and then I was next, followed by @merenludick and @matthew-williams. It hit me the worst though. I think it was some form of Covid. I have been vaccinated so many times I could be a pin cushion, so at least I know it won't kill me. Also the strains of Covid have become "weaker," so it's just like a really bad flu.

We had classic symptoms like a really bad flu coupled with a tummy bug. what a combination! I have had so many throat lozenges that I have lost my sense of taste completely.

The thing that really sucks is that although I have this new and amazing job, I am still being paid by the hour and that means I lost 3 days of wages this week, which I really couldn't afford.

This moth has just been a total fuckup as far as money is concerned, with work opening two days late than planned (more lost wages), a subscription to a fucking leaning channel I forgot to end my subscription with - and cant get the money back, and now all this sick leave.

It feels like I take 1 step forward and 10 steps back.

Good news is that I am on the road to recovery. I am still sick, but far better than I was.

Matthew seems to have been hit really hard as well, the timing being terrible as all the kids started their new school year last week.

Aime in her final year: grade 12
Meren in Grade 10
Matthew in grade 7

I had a total meltdown on Wednesday evening, tying to sew Matthew's bag (Matthew gave me his bag and Meren gave me his blazer THE NIGHTBEFORE SCHOO started, and expected me to perform miracles like I am the fucking fairy godmother from Cindarella), before I had to accept that it was beyond fixing. There is just so much the kids need as far as school clothes and regular clothes go and the loss of income couldn't have come at a worse time.

A guardian angel from the parent's WhatsApp group messaged me to say she had a bag for him. Thank God..

At least @zakludick had the foresight to buy all the stationery before Christmas, so that is all sorted

I am just so jealous of those parents who can just log into the website and buy their kids new uniforms at full price instead of begging for "hand me downs." I have had to put my pride in my pocket so many times that I don't think I have ay left.

I just don't understand how the school (which is a public school) can charge so damn much for uniforms. It's beyond ridiculous.

My ex and his new girlfriend have been hounding me about helping with what Matthew needs for school (after spending a fortune on casual clothes that are strictly kept at his dad's place - that is a whole new bitching session though, hair cuts and outings that they are now broke), only for them to bail on me when I really needed the help.

Anyway, I guess I'll do what I have been doing for the last 9 years and I'll just sort it out myself. At least I have @zakludick to thank for shouldering so much of this with me.
