But what would grand symbolism be without a few unintentionally comical contrasts? Der „Weltballon“ in Berlin Mitte ist eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Als eines der größten Fesselballons der Welt bietet er Touristen und Einheimischen einen einzigartigen Blick über die Stadt. Ursprünglich als Symbol für Freiheit und grenzenlose Perspektiven gedacht, schwebt er heute inmitten von Baustellen und Grünflächen, ein wenig wie ein Relikt aus einer Zeit, als Berlin sich noch euphorisch als pulsierende Weltmetropole inszenierte.

Doch was wäre große Symbolik ohne kleine, unfreiwillig komische Kontraste?
