Hola hola Hivers, estos días estuvimos dándonos una vuelta por la Plaza Grau de El Callao, aquí en Lima. Saben que Lima es una ciudad bastaante grande y hay mucho para mirar, no conocíamos éstas zonas y el Miércoles de la semana pasada fue el día elegido para explorar...

Caminando entre las calles cercanas a la plaza (más bien, pedaleando porque vamos en bicicleta) tropezamos con un famoso edificio historico, el edificio Ronald más conocido como " La Casa Ronald ".

Hello hello Hivers, these days we have been walking around Plaza Grau in El Callao, here in Lima. You know that Lima is a very big city and there is a lot to see, we did not know these areas and Wednesday last week was the day chosen to explore...
Walking through the streets near the square (rather, pedaling because we go by bike) we stumbled upon a famous historical building, the Ronald building better known as " La Casa Ronald ".

El edificio Ronald es un antiguo inmueble ubicado en el centro histórico del Callao, su propietario el señor Guillermo Ronald encargó la construcción de este edificio en el año 1900 y fue terminado en el 1928. En sus tiempos debió ser el edificio más moderno de la zona, y en él funcionaban diversos negocios, la oficina de correos, un club de ajedrez, el bar inglés, y varias oficinas.

Estuvo abandonado largo tiempo y desde hace varios años fue remodelado y acondicionado para albergar una gran variedad de eventos artísticos y culturales para el provecho la comunidad y el mejoramiento de los espacios comunes.

Actualmente es sede de exposición de diversas exposiciones artísticas, con una gran variedad de técnicas. También se dictan talleres, conversatorios y hay un bar arriba. También se ofrecen residencias para artistas internacionales que quieran exponer allí.

Vamos a mirar algunas de las exposiciones que más me gustaron...

The Ronald building is an old building located in the historic center of Callao, its owner Mr. Guillermo Ronald commissioned the construction of this building in 1900 and was completed in 1928. In its time it must have been the most modern building in the area, and it housed various businesses, the post office, a chess club, the English bar, and several offices.
It was abandoned for a long time and several years ago it was remodeled and refurbished to host a variety of artistic and cultural events for the benefit of the community and the improvement of common spaces.
It is currently the venue for various artistic exhibitions, with a wide variety of techniques. There are also workshops, talks and a bar upstairs. Residencies are also offered for international artists who want to exhibit there.
Let's take a look at some of the exhibitions I liked the most...

De las primeras exposiciones a la que entramos fue ésta del artista HANS JAULER, debo decir que desconocía completamente la totalidad de los artistas expositores. Fue todo muy nuevo para mi y eso me encantó.

Las técnicas utilizadas por HANS me encantaron, muy artista plastico sin dejar de lado las buenas composiciones y un buen uso de los colores. Muy conceptual, además, con un sótano que te lleva a un área peculiarmente iluminada para sacar lo mejor de estos cuadros e intervenciones artísticas porque mucho era casi casi arte callejero.

La intervención de los cuadros clásicos con figuras de la cultura como pop como los EVA, o el jesucristo de south park... Genial. Sobrio. Elegante jaja.

One of the first exhibitions we entered was this one of the artist HANS JAULER, I must say that I was completely unaware of all the exhibiting artists. It was all very new to me and I loved it.
The techniques used by HANS I loved, very plastic artist without leaving aside the good compositions and a good use of colors. Very conceptual, also, with a basement that takes you to a peculiarly illuminated area to get the best out of these paintings and artistic interventions because a lot of it was almost almost street art.
The intervention of the classic paintings with pop culture figures like the Eva, or the jesus christ from south park? Great. Sober. Elegant haha.

ANUDANDO LA TIERRA, el proyecto de Pancho Basurco e HILOS LISÉRGICOS de Antonio García fueron otras de las exposiciones clase aparte que tuvimos la oportunidad de observar en este paseo por la Casa Ronald.

Una cosa aparte, una exposición que da muestra de la versatilidad del arte y la cultura, los bordados increíbles con esos patrones de colores que evocan conocimientos ancestrales.

Combinar los conocimientos milenarios con las cosas simples y clásicas como un cuadro en la pared puede terminar en piezas tan hermosas como las aquí expuestas.

La parte de la telaraña hecha de retazos de tela creo que se trata de un concepto participativo, donde cada visitante deja su nudo atado al de los demás.

Super interesante y bonito, además es un proyecto que comprende otros aspectos.

! [English]ANUDANDO LA TIERRA, the project of Pancho Basurco and HILOS LISÉRGICOS by Antonio García were other class apart exhibitions that we had the opportunity to observe in this walk through the Ronald House.
A thing apart, an exhibition that shows the versatility of art and culture, the incredible embroidery with those colorful patterns that evoke ancestral knowledge.
Combining millenary knowledge with simple and classic things like a picture on the wall can end up in pieces as beautiful as the ones exhibited here.
The part of the spider web made of scraps of fabric I think it is a participatory concept, where each visitor leaves his knot tied to that of others.
Super interesting and beautiful, it is also a project that includes other aspects.

ESBOZAR PENSAMIENTO del artista SumCok destaca a la tinta como protagonista, los trazos como notas de este hermoso arte chino.

La caligrafía y la cultura china guardan conceptos que desde occidente no logramos comprender en su magnitud. La tinta, el pincel, el tintero y el papel son instrumentos milenarios, que evocan mucha magia y misticismo. Sus trazos, difíciles y concisos, propios de artesanos con maestría.

El artistas nos explica, "Esbozar el pensamiento es buscar plasmar de manera rápida y directa el espíritu de los seres y las cosas usando la fuerza de lo acromático"

Profundo, intenso. Me encantó.

ESBOZAR PENSAMIENTO by the artist SumCok highlights the ink as the protagonist, the strokes as notes of this beautiful Chinese art.
Calligraphy and Chinese culture keep concepts that from the West we do not understand in its magnitude. The ink, the brush, the inkwell and the paper are millenary instruments that evoke a lot of magic and mysticism. His strokes, difficult and concise, typical of master craftsmen.
The artist explains, "To sketch the thought is to seek to capture quickly and directly the spirit of beings and things using the strength of the achromatic".
Deep, intense. I loved it.

Subimos las escaleras a los pisos más altos y la cosa se empezó a loquear un poco, hay ARTE por todos lados y las exposiciones ordenaditas fueron quedando abajo... Literalmente!

El edificio es bien AMPLIO y como les digo, hay deléite para vista en cualquier dirección que se mire. Nos dejamos llevar un poco y terminamos en una especide de estudio de arte callejero. No estoy seguro si es un taller activo o si fue todo parte de una puesta de escena, lo que si sé es que estaba bien bonito y que nos tomamos algunas fotos lindas con esos diseños tan bonitos de fondo.

Es bonito ver al arte urbano, el arte de calle tomando los espacios más institucionales. Ver conceptos como "hazlo tu mismo" conquistar la opinión pública me llena de motivación, me hace pensar que sí hay un mundo mejor en construcción.

We climbed the stairs to the higher floors and things started to get a little crazy, there is ART everywhere and the exhibits were getting tidy downstairs.... Literally!
The building is very WIDE and as I say, there is a delightful view in any direction you look. We got a little carried away and ended up in a sort of street art studio. I'm not sure if it's an active workshop or if it was all part of a staging, what I do know is that it was very nice and we took some nice pictures with those beautiful designs in the background.
It's nice to see urban art, street art taking over the more institutional spaces. Seeing concepts like "do it yourself" conquer public opinion fills me with motivation, it makes me think that there is a better world under construction.

Algunas exposiciones pueden ser complicadas de observar, como la mirada de estos niños que parece que te va siguiendo por todo el pasillo... jaja!

Hubo una, en una de esas habitaciones. Se trataba básicamente de varias mujeres en lo que parecía ser su "entorno común", su casa o su habitación, enseñando su cuerpo, su pecho en topless. Ésa me gustó bastante, pienso que tiene mucha fuerza conceptual sin embargo prefiero no compartir imágenes específicas. Un poco de imaginación.

Desde los pisos más altos hay muy bonitas vistas, y de verdad que hay arte por todos lados!

Some exhibits can be tricky to observe, like the gaze of these children that seems to follow you down the hallway... haha!
There was one, in one of those rooms. It was basically several women in what seemed to be their "common environment", their house or their room, showing their bodies, their topless breasts. I quite liked that one, I think it has a lot of conceptual strength however I prefer not to share specific images. A little imagination.
From the higher floors there are very nice views, and there really is art everywhere!

En uno de los pisos más altos donde pudimos acceder (la azotea ya estaba cerrada) estaba una exposición muy hermosa centrada en sirenas, grandes cuadros pintados con una atención al detalle enorme, el artista me dejó impresionado.

Algunos de los trabajos evocan sentimientos ligados al misticismo y la magia de lo oculto, con una gran carga de energía femenina. Hermosos.

Otros, como el que usa técnicas de reciclado, dejan apreciar bastante el espíritu crítico de artista, y la necesidad de manifestar inconformidad con ciertas cosas de la actualidad.

On one of the highest floors where we could access (the rooftop was already closed) was a very beautiful exhibition focused on mermaids, large pictures painted with an enormous attention to detail, the artist left me impressed.
Some of the works evoke feelings linked to mysticism and the magic of the occult, with a great charge of feminine energy. Beautiful.
Others, like the one that uses recycling techniques, let us appreciate the critical spirit of the artist, and the need to express nonconformity with certain things of the present.
Or history.

La Plaza Grau vista desde lo alto de la Casa Ronald, se alcanza a apreciar también en las fotos de abajo a la izquierda la Fortaleza del Real Felipe que queda pendiente de visita!

También, en la foto de abajo a la derecha se ve el Puerto del Callao.

Hay mucho grafittie ésa area, continuaré posteando fotos de los alrededores, sobre todo el arte urbano del casco histórico. Pueden seguirme si es contenido que les resulta interesante!
