Slow down and breathe

This week, it felt like everything came at me at once. From the moment I woke up each day, my head was already full, thinking of what to post, who to reply, the chores waiting for me, even the things I promised myself I’d do but still haven’t touched.

By Wednesday, I just stopped and said, “Wait o… have I even paused to rest small?” Truth is, I was just running up and down, but I wasn’t really breathing.

Then yesterday, something funny happened. I didn’t plan for it. I just sat near the window for a while, not pressing my phone, not thinking too hard, just looking outside.

I noticed how the breeze was entering gently, how the street was calm (unlike my brain), and I even caught myself relaxing. That was when it hit me, “Ah, Precious, you don't breathe again.” 😅

See truth be told, this life will always give us something to chase. Work, school, deadlines, even family wahala. And social media too, it will make you feel like you must always be on the move, achieving, grinding, shining.

But the truth is, if you don’t pause, your body will remind you in ways you won’t like. Slowing down doesn’t mean you’re lazy or you’re not serious. Sometimes, it's that slowing down that'd even save you.

When I allowed myself to just sit still yesterday, I realized I’ve been missing small joys. The silence was sweet. My thoughts started to calm down.

I even laughed at myself because the world didn’t end just because I wasn’t “hustling” for 10 minutes. Imagine! Sometimes we overrate stress please. 🥺

And now it’s Friday. The week has carried its load of stress, deadlines, emotions, and plenty of small-small drama. But before we drag all of that into the weekend, maybe we should just drop the bag, breathe, and free our minds.

Because honestly, nothing will spoil if you rest. That call can wait. That message can wait. Even that serious task? It will still be there. But your peace of mind? You gotta fight for it intentionally.

So I've decided, this weekend, I’ll move gently. No rushing, no pressure. I’ll laugh more, gist more, even sleep like it's a competition. And most importantly, I’ll remember to breathe, deeply and slowly.

Maybe you should try it too. The world cannot scatter if you slow down small. Trust me, the stress will even scared of you when it sees you’re not stressing yourself again. 😄

Slow down. Breathe. The world can wait while you find your peace.
