I no longer drink coffee because of my stomach, although I like light coffee. and there is one more thing, some time ago I consumed coffee which was not made from coffee beans but from coffee leaves and the taste was quite light. After a long time, that was the first time I drank my coffee again @cinnccf

Hey I had never heard of this coffee leaf tea, I was intrigued by the taste. When I visit my mom I will surely try it by taking some leaves from her coffee plant. Thanks for the tip @maytom
Good discoveries, in the coffee growers I will ask for coffee leaves, to see how it tastes π, you have to try a little of everything
Ohhh dear I am so sorry about your stomach but glad to hear that you had coffee againπ
I'm not sure how to explain this, but my palate has always leaned towards medium roast - always. I don't mind a darker roast sometimes, but a light roast seems a bit too acidic. But medium roast all the way and I have no idea why haha!
In Venezuela, we're used to having medium to dark roast. It's a cultural thing, I guess. Now, acidic is good for me; in fact, I love it when I can find light roast beans, but they're expensive around here.
And what's in your cup?
I think that lighter roasted coffee has become more popular in the last decade, probablyβ¦ The classic and well famous Italian espresso is also quite dark and unpleasantβ¦ all of it, although the Italians would probably get angry if you try to explain them your point, or just tell them the truth. π
A hot steaming Latte, of course hehehe :D
Yes, I have noticed light roasts are more expensive but that doesn't bother me because I always preferred the medium roast anyway haha!
Well, give your body what your body wants π
I'm also not a fan of light roast coffees, although for me it is because they often lack the bitterness that I like. I can see landing on medium roast, despite being a dark roast gal myself most times!
Yes, YES! So few people understand the importance of the bitterness in coffee it makes me mad lol! The bitterness over the acidity all the way!
Medium roasted coffee can be the golden balance, although there can be some differences between the medium roasted coffee by one brand or roaster, and another. I have always preferred (at least in the last 4-5 years) light roasted beans.
Yep, and I hate the fact that it varies. I like consistency, I am like Sheldon Cooper in that way LMAO!
So I usually try to stick to the same brand!
Haha, Shelly, always makes the day with his words π€£
The medium roast is ideal for every coffee drinker, I prefer dark roasts in my mornings, then intermediate roasts.
That's a very interesting approach! I have never tried different roasts according to the time of the day! Hmm, now I am intrigued to shuffle things around a bit and experiment with your idea :D
As for me, I like to experiment a little bit of everything. We come to that, to this world of all. Experience your coffees to the fullest
You have an exquisite palate that tastes good... πβ
A good choice for your coffee ββ¨οΈ is a matter of taste, little by little we manage to personalise our coffee.
Hi, coffee lovers!
I hope you've started your weekend with a cup of your favorite coffee.
For me, light roasted. But of course I can't always afford it. In fact now I only have medium to dark roasted beans.
I've started my weekend with a cup of decent cup of Anzoategui coffee π It's a local brand and doesn't specify the kind of roast; it just puts "espresso,"--and I've seen light roast and dark roast espresso, so...--but judging by the appearance of the beans, I can see that it's a medium roast, as they're a little heavy and don't look shiny (oily). Next to my bag of AnzoΓ‘tegui coffee beans, you can see the bag of Amanecer; the latter has a medium roast and I like it better than AnzoΓ‘tegui and San Salvador, which has an dark roast.
I wouldn't have noticed the difference between the coffees that I drank ten years ago, not beyond the obvious conclusions that one can draw when sipping the first sip of coffee: it's too strong, too bitter, too mild, etc... All complaints, haha. Now I can appreciate the multilayered complexity of light roast coffee, but I seldom have it because it's not popular around here and that means expensive. I'd have to buy specialty coffee with a light roast, and I can only afford it once in a while.
I have seen this type of coffee sold in beans, but honestly I have never dared to buy them. Is it as good as Venezuelan criollo coffee?
AnzoΓ‘tegui is decent. I prefer Amanecer. I'm not sure about Venezuelan "criollo" coffee being one kind of coffee. Forty years ago, Venezuelan criollo meant "guayoyo con papelΓ³n" (americano with cane honey). Twenty years ago, it was something similar to a lungo. Right now I couldn't tell what is Venezuelan criollo anymore π€―
We need to try and try until we find what we like, I guess. And we need a lot of money for that π€
Well, I was referring to the one that is roasted at home in an artisanal way. For me that flavor is unique, extraordinary. @marlyncabrera
Well, if you have good beans and know what you're doing, I think your coffee will always be better than any commercial brand β€οΈ
I'd love to have some good beans, utensils, and knowledge to roast my own coffee. I can't get enough of the delicious scent. Unfortunately, for now I'm just ignorant when it comes to artisan coffee π I only know that in my experience as a consumer of artisan coffee, sometimes I've been disappointed: you never buy the same quality; you don't know if the coffee will be excellent, just good, or unpalatable.
Well, not everyone knows how to roast coffee well. In my region there are people from the countryside that do it very well and their coffee has no comparison @marlyncabrera
That's awesome. I'd wish I could say the same of roasters around here πΌ
Light roast is always the way to go⦠Medium can bring some complex and caramel touch, but pure fruitiness would suit me excellent, just like you prefer it.
It is true that good coffee tends to be the higher quality one. If some crop of green coffee has flows or off flavors, the way to fix it is just to roast it more. π€·π»
I havenβt found dark roasted specialty coffee anywhereβ¦ π
Best wishes, hope you will be able to afford light roasted coffee more often!
Oh, you're so kind! When I'm finally done saving some money for more urgent matters, I'm sure I'll be buying specialty coffee again. Amen! Hehe
I hadn't realized either, If you drank light roast coffee, medium or dark. I prefer dark roasts, I love the smell and flavor they leave on my palate.
A cup of good coffee "with personality", as a colleague of mine always says. I can definitely enjoy a dark roast, even when I prefer light roast. I guess it's a cultural thing.
That's how it is my friend, traditions are sometimes difficult for us to leave aside, the important thing is that we enjoy our coffee and are satisfied. Greetings
Very observant my dear friend... It is a sign that you really love coffee..... It is difficult to have a defined description in the local brands, I for example buy Creole coffee and it does not have any kind of description, only the one that the producer verbally indicates to me.
πβ
Yes, it's always like that. One must trust one's instincts and decide whether you're buying it or not. I used to smell the beans; now I also examine their color, feel their weight. The sellers don't like this, but I won't pay for coffee old and tasteless, or stale. So I take my time while the vendor suffers and calls me names in his mind, haha. I'm not afraid of their giving me that wary look, haha.
I would like to try the light roast coffee, here it is almost always sold dark, from what I have heard in this conversation it seems that the light roast is the best, pity I have not been able to try it.
What can I say? I got to try light roast coffee a few years ago and was completely in love, so I started buying it often, until sanity came to me and I had a deep reflection that reminded me that I was poor πΏ Unfortunately, I can't afford it daily, but a few times a year can't leave me more broke than I already am, haha.
Well I have to try it.
I hope you can try it any time soon. Then you can tell us about your experience in a post β€οΈ
When you get into this world, you learn everything about coffee and you begin to look for the flavor that you like.
I leave you a delicious cup of coffee for this afternoon.β
True! You live, you learn. We just need an easier access to those wonderful things we've learned that exist.
I haven't tried it but from what you say it must taste good β.
It does if you like the fruity side of coffee. I do love it; I think I will buy some next month. It's about time.
Hehehe why does it look like it's your day that is taking the coffee and not youππ
See him posing for the cameraπ₯°π₯°
Oh, my friend, I'm sure that Canela is the reincarnation of some medieval queen. In her mind, all that her eyes can see are her domains, my coffee included π
Hello friends coffee lovers happy weekend
I'm walking like spaiderman I'm climbing the walls hahaha I had to lower my coffee consumption by doctor's orders hahaha, the doctor advised me to drink coffee without caffeine what is that? Hahaha I definitely don't like light roast coffee, it doesn't taste like coffee flavored water, I prefer the medium roast which is the point of balance, the dark roast gives me acidity,
Tell your doctor, that coffee only bring joy and he cannot be serious! π
I can enjoy medium roasted coffee too, but I have to prepare it carefully. Dark roasts give me too much bitterness and harshness. But thatβs why we are different and enjoy our coffee differently!
Best wishes and find a different doctor! π
By the way there are some low caffeine or decaf coffees that are quite good, but they are specialty coffees and so their roast is lighterβ¦ they wonβt fit you that well.
Greetings my friend happy Sunday, I have to drink coffee otherwise my head hurts ππππ then who can stand me all bitter hahaha, I do not like dark, I like medium term, decaffeinated coffee is like drinking soda without gas and incidentally thawed horrible
Thatβs a huge cup! Coffee for a whole week π
What is that, the doctor doesn't know that you are a good coffee lover, for God's sake, coffee without caffeine, it is not coffee. How do you do it? I could not.
Greetings friend is that I have not fulfilled that part of the treatment ππ, I also believe that coffee without caffeine is not coffee, it is colored water hahaha.
I think the same, it is water with a brown color hahahaha
I'm sorry you're going through that. I hope it's temporary and you recover soon. Stay away from the decaf π«’. We give you strength from here. An infinite hug ππβ.
Greetings friend no vale a mΓ no me me gusta ese cafΓ© prefiero no tomar nada, gracias por darme animo aunque sigo tomando cafΓ©ππ.
Oh, so bad doctors like still exist! Find someone else, one that likes their coffee everyday, several times a day, haha.
In Venezuela, we get Arabica beans at the store, almost exclusively. This type has less caffeine. And if you use drip brew and sip it while still hot, that's less caffeine. Words of my grandma's doctor (40 years ago; he drank 4-6 cups a day and died of old age, just in case).
That doctor is crazy if he thinks I'm going to give up my coffee I like it medium term the dark one as my grandmother used to say coffee for drunk πππ
I remembered the words of my dad who says he's been drinking coffee since he was born and it hasn't hurt him. π Older people used to drink coffee since they were very young and have lived many more years, I don't know if it is because of coffee consumption but what I know is that it has been part of their diet during their life.
Yes, coffee is harmful if taken in excess, so you have to take it in moderation, although I admit that sometimes it is difficult to contain yourself with a good coffee jaja
Maintaining moderation in the consumption of coffee is not easy, you get the aroma from everywhere, I prefer coffee to soda.
Coffee without caffeine is like drinking beer without alcohol. I wouldn't see any pleasure in it, one complements the other that's why they exist that way in nature.
I leave you a delicious cup of coffee with caffeine.βπ
No that decaf thing doesn't go with me will be to get hospitalized for lack of caffeine hahaha ππthanks for the cup of coffee.
Haha, your doctor maybe coffee drunk to say that, hehe. I hope you get better.
The medium roast is a nice one
Doctors recommend things that they do not comply with because they spend their shifts drinking coffee, I agree with you, the middle ground coffee is the one I like.
Also that one is my favorite @nill2021 I love that thermo ideal for keeping coffee warm all day π.
Well, take care of your health, which is very important, maybe when your medical parameters are reestablished you will be able to continue enjoying a good coffee.
It is not easy but for health everything must be done βπ€β¨οΈ I hope you get better and can continue enjoying your coffee.
Ohhh dear I'm so sorry about that but I hope it's nothing too serious though.
People who follow me and my posts in the community will probably know my answer! I like my coffee to be fruitful, delicate and to bring me on another place with its aromas. These are properties that can be found only inβ¦
β¦ light roasted coffee! Roasting is one of the most important steps of coffee processing where you can make a mess from a wonderful green coffee, so roasters have a very hard task. Light roasts preserve the fruity vibes, while developing a full and complex flavor, adding sweetness and a bit of caramel. When you go darker, the caramel taste will boost amd if you over roast, it starts to get bitter and have burned feeling. Darker roasting usually cover some flaws in the taste of the green coffee and you will probably find dark roasted cheaper coffee. Competition coffee is always light and medium light roasted, and thisnis for reason!
I like to enjoy the color of light roasted filter coffee too! Light plays fantastically with every different coffee!
I can go with medium roasts too, but they are a bit trickier to prepare. I mean⦠it is easy to extract harshness, which is something that is not that welcome in the final cup.
So⦠light roasted coffee for me, please!
The light and medium roast would be ideal for every coffee lover. In my case, I lean toward dark roast coffee in the mornings and medium to light roast coffee in the afternoons.
From now on, I will take into account the roasting of the coffee, the flavor my palate wants depends on it. Keep enjoying what you love
This roast level shift during the day is interesting. Maybe in the mornings we do need stronger coffee to wake up our senses and mind!
That's how I see it, I like that it runs through my entire body and activates me completely, filling me with adrenaline.
Very good explanation. I like to read your posts in the coffee conversation, it makes me feel that I am sharing with an expert in "coffee" topic.
I have only tried the light roast at my favorite coffee shop that gives us the roast options on the menu. Usually in the region where I live people prefer the dark roast.
Hope you have a great day and toast with a light roast coffee πββ cheers to you my friend!
Oh, that's a beautiful honey color in your coffee. Love it.
It happens to me many times with dark roasted coffee that I find it tastes like cigarettes, and I don't smoke, so I don't enjoy it. I always liked two or three brands that had a dark roast, though; unfortunately, those brands have disappeared from the stores.
It looks great the way you tell it, it makes me want to have a cup right now, although I like the dark roast, it's just that here it's usually the type of coffee that sells. But I would like to try it as you describe it.
Light and medium roasts are the most sought after, in truth they are the ones that preserve that deliciousness of coffee that makes it have a unique flavor. For those of us who loved caffeine, a light one.
I leave you a cup of delicious lightly roasted coffee.β
You've made your point so well that I enjoyed reading,hehe and I like this part because it is beautiful;
Iβm glad to hear that you like my comment. Roasting process is really something very hard and it is not for everyone. I have tried a manβs first attempts of coffee roasting that didnβt taste good at all. He found his way and now he roasts a lot better!
Haha...that's way better for him.
I think I have never tried green coffee but it must be bitter, have you tried it? Wow thanks for the lecture on the coffee process I like it as you say dark it must be bitter, my grandmother used to say that it was coffee for drunkards hahaha it raises dead hahaha
Some dark coffees can really rise deads π I never tried green coffee, and I feel like I donβt really want to. If I find some green beans, I would probably try to roast them myselfβ¦ π€·π»π
Very interesting explanation, I found your comment very instructive
I like that preference π I'm looking for a coffee that allows me to enjoy a delicious aroma and flavour with intensity.
.
This your comment alone shows how much of a coffee lover that you are and you sure know your coffeeπ₯°π₯°
Until now that I read all the lovers of good coffee in this weekend conversation, it left me pensativaβΊοΈ, I knew like everyone that obviously the coffee was roasted π , I really had not paid attention to this type of coffee roasting events, my coffee I have sought for the aromas, the taste on my palate and the satisfaction it leaves me when I drink it, starting today, I am going to experiment according to the learning acquired about the most basic roasts of coffee, light medium and dark, there are many roasting methods and techniques with an infinity of names, but I will stick with those basics for now.
I learned that the roasting of the coffee is the fundamental base to obtain a good cup of coffee according to each person's preference, it is responsible for giving the color, aroma, flavor and texture to the coffee, therefore if we roast the coffee too little or too much we could have unpleasant experiences. The ideal is to appreciate light roasts if you like fruity coffee, medium to dark if you want to enhance the flavor, color and aroma of the coffee. I lean towards the dark roast for my mornings and the medium roast for my afternoons, I think they would give an ideal touch to my life. I will continue to search for coffee roasts and experience sensations.
Very good friend...it seems to me that in these meetings we all learn something every weekend. I like your choice and I'm leaning towards the medium and dark roast as well. πππ½ Happy weekend.
#βπ
I love participating in these conversations, we learn many things that we don't know, it's feedback, I like that a lot. Very good choice. βββ
That is the essence of coffee, finding different flavors with different ways of roasting, coffee adapts to all tastes and each person.
I leave you a delicious cup of coffee for this day.
Better said impossible β, coffee is universal, there is something for everyone, all we have to do is enjoy it to the fullest. Greetings
This is excellent. Everyone has their taste, and seeing has you go for both medium and light is cool.
I wish you a coffee βοΈ filled world.
The preferences are exquisite, lots of coffee for us. Greetings
Greeting π
I believe that drinking coffee also becomes an exquisite experience ββ¨οΈπ€
You are absolutely right, it is an extremely exquisite experience, let's continue enjoying it until we can't anymoreπ₯°βββπ
πβ
I like your choice, a different roast for every coffee moment of the day. Nice!
Coffee roasting is a whole world. Back in 2005, I started buying artisan coffee from a colleague of mine who had a small farm in Caripe; it was then that I learned that roasting made the difference because his coffee was superior. But it wasn't until about ten years ago that I was lucky enough to receive a very thorough explanation from a master roaster friend of my brother. Since then, I have always tried to have some light roasted coffee at home, but I can't afford it right now, as the economy is not good. So I stick to my medium roast coffe that I love in the mornings and afternoons.
Knowing all this is great, I hope to see a post explaining each reason for roasting, let's continue our coffee route.
Every day we learn something new in this community, that's what makes it nice to be here @neilamarcano
That's right, we learn a lot of things here, I really like that. Greetings
I always prefer dark roast coffee, that's how I've always adapted to drinking it, that's how coffee is generally drunk in Cuba.
Cubans like that dark liquid, with its strong and bitter taste.
I also like dark roasts but only in the mornings, it completely activates me and brings me serenity.
True, it is ideal to activate in the mornings.
I love it, it's my morning routine. Greetings
Me too, we are Cubans, my dear!
πβ
Every toast has its charm. No one can deny the deliciousness of Cuban coffee. I love it.
ββ₯οΈπ€
I drink coffee without sugar, I think a dark and bitter coffee without sugar is not for me πΈ in that case I would have to add sugar obligatorily to drink it.
I am Cuban π¨πΊ, and most of us born in this island enjoy dark roasted coffee. I don't know if it's because of tradition, or because it runs through our veins, but without a doubt it is so! I am sure that my children will grow up with the same taste, and my children's children.
That tradition defines the taste for coffee in your generations, I also love it dark, I find it better in flavor and aroma.
Dear @neilamarcano, it is amazing how people develop the same tastes as those closest to them. Coffee does not escape from that π₯°.
It's really surprising, the addiction to coffee comes from our genes. We will continue in this infinite circle. βββπ₯°
I wish you enjoy an excellent coffee this afternoon π
π₯°π€
It seems reasonable to me, although I think that the preference for a coffee is more a matter of taste, experience leads us to decide which coffee will be our favourite.
That's how it is my friend, it's taste preference and depending on what we experience with it, there are tastes to choose from.
It's true, with time one defines one's tastes; even as time goes by, our tastes change. Thank you very much for your comment @cirangela π₯°
Excellent Sunday conversation coffee lovers.
I am here to participate in this week's conversation, today we are asked about the type of roast we like in our coffee.
My taste leads me to medium roast coffee, I like it very much because it is a point of balance between the two extremes, I like that sweetness that can be perceived between each mouthful and the aroma that to my personal taste seems to be stronger. At home we have always had medium roast coffee and that is the main reason for preferring this type of roast, you know that the sense of taste gets used to what you feed it and drink throughout life.
That was my answer to this week's question. I look forward to reading your impressions on your coffee roasting preference.π
I leave you all with a delicious cup of coffee to start the week with lots of energy.β
It is an excellent experience every week, in our conversations. In the afternoon I have my good cup of medium roast coffee, it is less strong and doesn't keep me awake.
The experience invites us to choose our best coffee β that's what it's all about - tasting, enjoying every sip and deciding which one we love the most β.
Everything we experience at home, with our relatives, marks our lives; even the perception we have about coffee.
Warm greetings to our coffee friends. πβ€οΈβ€οΈ
My favorite coffee is the medium black, that is to say, neither red nor black coffee, because I love to have that bitter and dry taste that defines coffee on the palate, and I also delight with its unmistakable aroma of purity.
Very good choice π, the intermediate roast from medium to dark, has a little bit of each, seeking the balance between both
A good choice β best of all is to enjoy the coffee.
I can say that I am a beginner coffee lover, but I can also say that I like intensity in almost everything in my life, because life is really measured in moments of pleasure and for me drinking my coffee is measured as my perfect moment, so customizing the strength and taste of my espresso has
become something personal that invites me to prepare an intense and rich coffee at home, a whole experience that activates my senses, so I lean more towards the intense roast. . which will surely allow me to enjoy my ideal espresso βπ€β¨οΈ.
It is great that you have chosen the dark or intense roast, it is the best way to better appreciate our coffee. For more dark and intense cupsπβ
I love my coffee light as the lighter it is the more it can produce various flavours and the aroma is next to none. Dark roast coffee are too strong for me so I stick to light coffee, the lighter the better for meπ
I like the medium roast coffee since I think it is the ideal to obtain a coffee with exquisite flavor, I believe that the dark roast can have a more bitter flavor and the light roast needs more coffee to obtain a coffee that is pleasant to the palate. So for me the medium roast is the perfect combination in terms of flavor and product yield.
Here I leave you this cup of my favorite brown coffee with a slight hint of chocolate. Hugs π€
