If there is anything I am so afraid of, it is wild animals, but it surprises me that people keep these wild animals as their pets. I have come across some videos online of people keeping lions as their pets. The first time I came across the video, I asked myself how crazy people can be, living in a house with a wild animal. I keep wondering about the kind of confidence these people have, knowing full well that this animal can’t co-exist in the same environment with man.

I must keep asking myself, why do people keep playing with their lives? They probably think that life is a duplicate. There is a reason why these animals are kept in zoos away from man and his environment. No matter how you train any animal to be loyal, a time will come when such an animal will not be loyal. One thing about animals is they are unpredictable.

I have seen a situation where a dog that we know as a domestic animal ate up the owner's child. How many more wild animals a day will come when they lose their loyalty, and the outcome will not be a good one? It sounds so ridiculous to have wild animals as pets in my house; heaven knows that I am not ready to take such a risk.

This post reminded me of my cousin who lived outside the country. She was killed by her lovely pet. The very first time I did a video call with her, I saw a snake in her room. I was shocked, and out of curiosity, I asked her what a snake was doing in her room. She said it was her pet. I will not lie; I was no longer comfortable on the call with her, but before I ended the call, I begged her to take the snake away. I keep asking myself, how can a human have a snake as a pet? Late last year, she was killed by this pet of hers.

Hearing of how my cousin lost her life, do you still expect me to have a wild animal as a pet? I don’t buy the idea of having wild animals as pets; they are better off in the zoo, where there are professionals who take care of them. It would be very bad to have this pet at home. There is a popular saying, ‘Bathe a pig, and a pig still remains a pig,’ which means no matter how you train wildlife, you can’t change that from them.

We can’t keep these animals as pets; they are dangerous to man and his environment. In case we forget, they are predators that feed on other animals, and they are capable of eating man if in the same environment with man.
