WHAT I DO TO EARN A LIVING

Money is very important to everyone because it makes life so sweet. It is one of the essential things of life; without money, the world will not be sweet. Most people engage in different types of work to make money.

Life has its ways of turning us around, but it has not really been easy on my own end. I have done a lot of work just to earn money in order to take care of myself. Life is a bed of roses; whatever you do that earns you income, don’t joke with it.

I am an event planner. I am so proud of myself. I am proud of the things I have achieved. I am so proud of the woman I have grown to become. It has not been easy building up this career, but I have been able to stand today by the grace of God and with the help of my family members, who made me realise that I can really achieve anything I want. There are a lot of challenges that came my way before I was able to start up this business. I believe these challenges made me strong.

I’m an event planner. My work is to plan or organise events for people and get paid after doing my work. I also manage event, plan, and make sure that event come out well.

When I started this work recently, it was really challenging because I was still new in the industry. I have little or no clients. It was really hard for me the first period I started the work. People were afraid to entrust their events in my hands each time I complained to my family; they would also encourage me not to give up.

Seriously, it was not easy for me at all. I will stay for a whole 6 months without having any contracts from people, but one contract changed my life. It was my elder sister's wedding. She walked up to me and said that she would like me to plan her wedding. I was so happy that my elder sister trusted me to handle her event. It was not easy, but I had to put in my very best because I didn’t want to disappoint her. It was stressful, but I am happy I did a good job for my sister, from her wedding gown till every single thing used in the wedding was planned by me.

My sister couldn’t hold her joy that day; she was so surprised that I came through for her. After her wedding, I started getting connections to plan events for people, and I get paid now. I can confidently say I am proud of myself.

The work has really taken me to places and also connected me to people. I have learnt how to manage people's character, and I have gathered a lot of experience in my career. I make sure that the people I'm working with will not disappoint me once I get a job. Since I started this work, I have learnt how to manage time, solve problems, and develop good communication skills with my clients.

This is one job that gives a steady income. As long as you know what you are doing, you will keep getting connections from people.

I am so grateful for where I am today. I derive joy from my work.
