True friends are treasure

If there is something I value so much, it is friendship. Whenever you are my friend, I genuinely love and care for whoever is my friend. It always pains me that people in our world today find it hard to find people who love you genuinely. When you have money, you will see thousands of friends around you claiming to love and care for you. The very moment that wealth disappears, that is when you will realise that they were not genuine at all. Someone who truly loves you will be loyal to you, and they will have your back.

True friends are hard to come by, and if you have one, they are like treasure that can’t be seen. Anyway, I value true friendship because they are a gift to me. You can’t be my friend, and you will not stand by me. You can’t be my friend if you go around badmouthing me behind my back and in my presence you are praising. If you come across real friends, value them because real ones are hard to find. Every friendship must be built under trust and support; with this, the friendship will last.

To what extent can I maintain friendship?

One thing about me is I value friendship very well. I try my best to maintain my relationship with my friends. I am ready to displease myself just to make sure that my friend is happy. I can sacrifice for my friend because they always have my back.

I have this particular friend I don’t joke with. I try my best to maintain the friendship because it is built on love and support. The both of us understand what friendship really means. Of course, we always have issues, and we sort them out. When it comes to this friend of mine, I can go to any extent to maintain the friendship because the both of us understand each other. We support each other in times of plenty and in times of lack; we are together. We have fought many battles, and we have won many of those battles.

If you have a friend that always supports, advises and encourages you, believe me, you will move mountains to maintain that friendship.

Will I end the relationship simply because of differences of beliefs and ideas?

Yes, differences in beliefs and ideas are enough to end a relationship, like theyalways say, two captains can’t be in the same ship. One thing about friendship is you should be able to understand each other. As friends, we should be able to share ideas, but in a situation where our ideas always clash, there is no need for being in that relationship.

There is a scenario that happened in my life. I have this friend of mine that loves social life, and I am not that kind of person. She tries her best to convince me into her way of life. The pressure is too much, and my belief is being trampled on. As someone who is not into that lifestyle, I have to let go of that relationship. For me to maintain my beliefs, I have to distance myself from the relationship.

How tolerant and open should one be with differences?

As humans there should be differences because we can never think alike. The way I reason is different from the way another person does. In every friendship you should be able to tolerate knowing that your friend is not perfect; there will be mistakes, but you should be able to tolerate that. That means you are mature.

Of course there is a limit to this tolerance; that is why it is very important for us to set boundaries, and when the heat from the friendship becomes so unbearable, kindly walk out.

Conclusion: true friends are those who love, support, respect and understand you. They are people who have got your back; they are ready to lay down their life for you. I don’t think there is anything I value like true friendship. I am ready to go against my will just to please my friend. If you have true friends, value and respect them because they are like treasure.
