Risk is part of life

Life is full of risks. There is nobody who does not take risks. Is it worth the risk, or is it a foolish risk? As far as your existence goes, you should open up your mind to take risks. I have come to realise that risk is part of life; there is no successful man who didn’t take risks to be where they are today. There is no single day I don’t risk my life with the hope of things being better; most times the end result is not worth it.

I am this kind of person that takes risks. I believe that life is risky, and for you to be successful, you must be able to take those risks. I have been working for some people for a long time. Last year I made a decision that I will start up a business of my own no matter how hard it may be.

My friend called me and shared a business idea with me. He said we should invest in the palm oil business; according to him, the business is a good one and it will generate income for us. We will still export the palm oil to other countries. The idea is to buy the palm oil when it is in season and sell it when the price is high. We will make a lot of profit, and palm oil is one of the things that have a high rate of consumption.

Last year the price of palm oil was very high, so when he told of his plan, I saw it as a good idea and a good place to invest my money. We contributed money together and bought the palm oil; we stored it and waited for when the price would be high so that we could sell it.

When the price of the palm oil was high, there was this man that met me and my friend. He was buying the palm oil from us, and he would pay us immediately. We created a relationship with our customer. He would carry palm oil from us. After selling, he would bring the money for us. We never knew that the man was doing that to win our hearts.

Late last year he came to us and collected 150 rubber palm oil; to this day we have not seen that man. We called his numbers; they are not reachable. This really taught us a lesson that when it comes to business, never put trust. I took the risk and supplied those palm oils. Well, this is life, and risk is involved, although it really shook me and my friend, but we learnt our lessons.

Life is risky. What matters is having the heart to bear whatever risk that comes out of it.
