Reincarnate a great mystery

Since I was born, I have been hearing of reincarnation – that when someone dies, they will reincarnate into another person's body, while some people believe the moment someone dies, life ends. Seeing this topic, I ask my family members if they believe in reincarnation. Almost every member of my family believes in reincarnation. I was still arguing with my mother about this whole reincarnation thing. I can’t just believe that someone can reincarnate into another person because the holy book made us understand that we only live once, so the reincarnation of a thing is something I find hard to believe.

While arguing, my mom decided to tell me a story about reincarnation. My mom was the last born of their family, and she was so close to her mom that she took care of her in sick bed. After some years, she married my dad, and she gave birth to a baby girl. I always hear my mom call my elder sister Mama. I thought it was a pet name she loved calling her. My mother told me that my elder sister is her mom that reincarnated; that is why she always calls her mama. There is this birthmark on my sister's chest that her mom has; the birthmark, my elder sister is the only person in my family that has curly hair; her mom has curly hair too. I can remember my mom telling me she doesn’t know if my elder is the only one that inherited curly hair from the mom. When my sister was small, my mom was beating her for doing something wrong. My sister told her not to beat her, that she is her mom. Mom said immediately she was weak hearing the word from her child; that is why my mom doesn’t beat my sister that much.

After listening to this story from my mom, I am still asking myself if there is truly something like reincarnation because Christianity made us understand that when a person dies, his or her soul will go for judgement, and if the person lived a holy life, he will stay at the right-hand side, and if the person lived a bad life, he will stay at the left-hand side. I have tried my possible best to understand this reincarnation thing. The majority of the people so much believe in reincarnation. When it comes to knowledge, I am always curious. I ask my mom, Why does she think that people reincarnate? According to my mom, people who die without fulfilling their purpose on earth always reincarnate to fulfil it, or in most cases, some reincarnate due to the love they have for a family member.

Is reincarnation possible?

Seriously, I don’t know what to believe again. From my mom’s story, reincarnation seems possible because my mom showed me proof that made me believe that indeed reincarnation is true. All these things in my sister’s body, my grandmother had them all. My mom has to show me the picture of her mother to satisfy my curiosity. For me, I have decided not to disturb my little brain about reincarnation. This life is so mysterious, and we can’t understand it all. There are a lot of things that are hidden from us. There are thousands of things we don’t have answers to, but we keep askings, ‘How did this thing come to stay?’

For me, I have decided to live the best version of life; if I reincarnate, so be it, and if I don’t reincarnate, so be it too. The most important thing for me is to live a life that people will remember even when I am gone. Reincarnation may be true, but I still need someone to convince me more.
